Bruno Wolf
An earlier controversial figure within the Federation
Bruno Wolf was an Anfiedish politician and convicted fraudster who is most notable for serving as the 1st Deputy President of the Federation under Gelran Belfust. He also controversially served as President of the Federation for the rest of Belfust's term upon Belfust's death.
Wolf was born on Anfieden several decades prior to the formation of the Federation of Iomhare. By the time negotiations began for the Federation between the nations within Iomhare, Wolf was a senior Anfieden politician. Like many of his fellow politicians, he decided to run for a federal seat in the House of Planetary Representatives, winning by one of the largest margins in the new Federation. Belfust, upon announcing his plans to become President, chose Wolf as his deputy to court the more conservative voters. They would win the following election by record margins that are rarely if ever beaten in the modern Federation.
With the death of Belfust, the true face of Wolf became known to the people of the Federation, he claimed the powers of the President, despite there being no clause in the Federation constitution allowing him to do so. The Congress of the Federation near universally disavowed his Presidency, and Maxwell Blayen became his primary opponent to the Presidency.
In the 2668 Federation Presidential Election, Blayen and his union of political parties annihilated Wolf and his own conservative party, especially in the wake of accusations of fraud, bribery and even extra-judicial killings. With Blayen as President, there was nothing protecting Wolf from his crimes, and he was arrested before election day was even done. He was convicted at his trial, and sentenced to life for his crimes, narrowly escaping the death penalty.
