The Citraidarian Empire

The "good" side

Structure

At the top is the elected monarch, who serves for a ten year term (in Astor-Banthum time). Under that are the priests and divine assitants who keep The Citadel in good condition and oversee the worship of all the "gods" of Astor-Banthum. Then the warriors and trainees of the Citraidarian army. Just under them are the wealthy nobility and trade merchants, with the peasants/common folk coming in last.

Public Agenda

The main public agenda is currently to drive out The Battlemaster Empire from Astor-Banthum, free their prisoners, and fully settle into the land. The political promise after that is to set up a fair, elective monarchy that will thrive under the diverse and magical conditions of the land.

Assets

Materials: Wood, most metals, teyresae harvested from the ground, some varieties of exotic plants that have medicinal uses. Buildings: The Citadel, the War Guild, etc Troops: They have an alliance with the Alchemein Empire, which grants them about ten thousand extra troops to add to their army of about seventy thousand.

History

It was founded in 142 BDE by a group of travelers who were tired of being "part of the system" and wanted to explore and form new lands under a new type of government. This idea quickly caught on and hundreds of thousands flocked to join them. At first, they just conquered small territories but then decided to sail south and see what they could find--leading to the discovery of Astor-Banthum.

Demography and Population

The Citraidarian Empire has a current population of about 847, 233 legal citizens, according to a recent census of the land. They are divided roughly across the eastern reigon of Astor-Banthum, which is a larger portion but less habitable than the land which The Battlemaster Empire inhabits. Few people live in the wilder areas of the land, including the "unexplored" regions (like ??? the city with the highest population is Uppekken (capital city and home to The Citadel), with exactly 193,227 people living there and about six hundred others who live/work in the Citadel. The average lifespan of a Citraidarian is 67 years, with males living to 58 and females to 76. A birth (including twins/triplets/etc) happens (on average) every forty-nine seconds. A death happens (on average) every twenty-three seconds.

Technological Level

The Citraidarian Empire is not known for technological or scientific power, instead relying on the powerful, semi-magical fluid known as teyresae that resides in Astor-Banthum's caves and that makes the land so valuable. This powers many of their more advanced weapons. There are some mechanical systems that operate as a defense against army invasions (ex. Uppekken), but the Empire mainly relies on magic and pure, human force.

Religion

The main religion is the worship of the Citraidarian gods, a religion which was created with the founding of the Empire itself. They worship five main gods: Al'gothon, the bull/crocodile/human god of power, Naneten, the feline (lion/puma) goddess of knowledge and wisdom, Kalzer, the wolf/ram god of life and death, Idjek, the fox/human goddess of love, and Wbatook, the monkey god of strength (NOT power) and cunning. These five main gods and their powers are the center of divine worship in Banthum. There are also about twenty other gods/goddesses, but they are minor or simply different forms of the same, major deity. This religion (simply called Citraidarianism) requires little practice among civilians, with a small offering to each of the five main deities every day, but requires hard work in the center of worship, The Citadel. There are a team of highly respected priests, priestesses, and their apprentices that work eighteen hours a day smoking incense, praying, making offerings, etc in the temple room of the Citadel in order to "satisfy" the gods.

Citraidarians use a coin system that involves five different types of coins: 1. The shanzu (plural shanzi), equal to about a nickel in US money. 2. The kuzat (plural kuzats), equal to about a quarter in US money. 3. The plexx (plural plexxi), equal to about a dollar in US money. 4. The tveret (plural tveree), equal to about ten dollars in US money. 5. The quana (plural quanas), equal to about twenty dollars in US money.
Legislative Body
The leader of the Empire writes a base set of rules that is subject to change over the years as new leaders are elected. The people vote on new, smaller laws every year that have been established and put up for vote by the "democratic monarch". No law has remained untouched over the years except for one that calls for the monarch to be elected and serve for a ten year term.
Judicial Body
There is a minor police system in the Citraidarian Empire, but it is mostly inactive due to the low crime rate of the country, unlike The Battlemaster Empire. The leader is the head judge of all "court" decisions, with the priests making up a five person jury that changes over the years.
