The Flight of Kasta and Doxia

Summary

Legend says that as sunset fell on a bright day, a foreign god came to rain pain and misery down on the people of Asrai. A flash of light blinded the people living around Leobalt Sea. A  streak of flames and a booming sound followed shot across the skies and disappeared. At first, nothing happened. But soon the sea recoiled from the shores and a wall of water more than twenty meter high rushed to destroy the surrounding lands.   To the north, the verdant lands of Nilsathyr were naturally protected from that danger - the tall black cliffs sounding the island more than a match against the god's furious, watery assault. To the south though, the faithless lands of Garkhigur were left wide open for plunder and with no gods to protect them, the faithless people died by the thousands.   The destructive god then turned his attention east. The biggest obstacle on his path to Aralun was the island of Ebastana. The god bore down on the peaceful isle. But he met unexpected resistance. For the gods protecting Aralun had already gather to meet the foreigner in combat. The battle raged on and as the sun finally set, the moons rose. For hours, they bore witness to the divine fighting off the invaders. Finally they could stand it no more and in a shower of lights, Kasta and Doxia took on the shapes of local mages to join in the fight.    With the support of the twin sister of the night skies, the divines managed to kill the invaders. But as they turned to thank their helpers, the divine witness Kasta and Doxia flying back to the skies on wings of blue or purple.

Historical Basis

The first record of this festival dates back to the Age of Faiths. Several pieces of space rock were recovered from Leobalt Sea and are now believed to have form part of a meteor that struck Asrai during the Age of Upheavals. The resulting water displacement led to tsunami radiating from the point of impact. Though the legend makes no mention of the Lilvelish divines, it is a guarantee that they would have helped to lessen the impacts of the consecutive waves. Without a divine nearby to truly protect them, the tsunami hit the lands of Garkhigur hard - killing over 10,000 people. The island of Ebastana was the next to be hit but they did have the benefit of divine protection, thus lessening the impact of the catastrophe.
