Thousands of years ago the world was in a golden age, science was progressing at a rapid rate and the foundations of creation were being discovered. Answers to all of people secrits were being found and the world was at peace. Threw coalition of Elven Mages, Gnome Mechanics and Human Inspiration a great machine was built to tap into the raw currents of magic upon the world and use it to find the source of all magic. This endeavor was fraught with failure, upon its activation the world as people knew it was shattered. Now the site of the device sits a giant maelstrom, known as the everstorm.   Civilization did not recover from this disaster for over a thousand years barling clinging onto life in small clusters around the planet. It wasn’t till about 300-400 years ago that kingdoms rose and life returned to some kind of normal across this continent. Most signs of the old world are completely erased and one would even struggle to find record of it in history books so complete the devastation was from the apocalyptic event.
