Vertola; The Seductress

Only visible in the northern hemisphere of Ashua, Vertola is a prominent constellation named after an ancient goddess of Eld Perelaia. The brightest stars are the white Dallitrus and the red Dexitras, the current northern polar star.   Vertola takes its name from the Eld Perelaian myth of the Temptation of Adin. In the myth, Vertola approaches the god Adin in the middle of the night during a break from battle, as an emissary from the enemy. As her nickname suggests, she seduced the god into laying with her, and while that was going on the enemy snuck into the camp and ambushed the sleeping soldiers. It was a massacre.   In the morning, Adin awoke alone. As he stepped out of his tent, he was shocked by the grisly sight. Every single man in his army, dead. Throats slit, heads removed, and blood everywhere. A mighty roar left his lips, and he went on a rampage.   For the next three years, Adin slashed and smashed and crushed and ripped his way through the countryside, killing civilian and soldier alike. His rage was so great his father, Adar, had to step in. In his blood fury he tried to strike his father down. His fury was also his folly. In one quick motion Adar sidestepped the swing of Adin's blade and with a single finger cut the perpetrating arm from his son's body, causing it to wither and turn to dust upon the ground.
