Grand Bazaar

The Grand Bazaar is a large, open-air marketplace in the ruins of an abandoned seaside castle from the days of Eld Perelaia, located within the walls of the free city of Jirske.
Formerly called Garrick's Hold, when the castle belonged to a lesser lord over a millennia ago, the Grand Bazaar has long since been entirely renovated into one of the most prosperous and busy marketplaces in all of Oscana. The area surrounding the walls is full of rows and rows of various shops and vendor stall, some permanent, most not. The bailey has been turned into a multilevel maze of shops and catwalks, and is where you can find your more high-end and exotic goods. The former dining hall has been turned into a large fish market, and the donjon was turned into offices for the more profitable merchants.

History

Constructed in 327 by Garrick Raeklaskyr in the height of the War of the Expanse, it was originally intended to be used primarily as a restocking port for the Kirkmoor forces. It quickly turned into an important chokepoint on supplies for the Friscan Rebels, and was instrumental in the Battle for Jirske, a conflict that ended with the birth of the free city of Jirske.
In addition, it was also a key location during the Tearing of the West, when an immense, ancient wyrm awoke from a millennia-long slumber and began wreaking havoc on the countryside.
