The Families of the Weyr

Danau, the First

“The House of Wisdom.” Ruling Family of the Weyr for the last 1000 years.

Yldr Danau: Remains at the Cwtch, oversees the Weyr. Formerly sworn to Aellyssar as the Advisor to king and there during the founding of the Order of Nehara. Very old and nearing his 1000th year. Was the one to first begin serving the kingdoms of Ashnuw and encouraging the others to do the same, as a means to reject the temptations of power.
Alnya*: Beautiful oldest daughter of Yldr Danau. Was one of the original three to serve Tir Cindel after the Pale War, but now serves The Order of the Martyrs. Has been “spurned” by Xkoll, due to his refusal to enter bethrothal at the request of her father. Name Meaning: (High, tall tower of beautiful strength) (Chosen daughter) (Length of body and spirit that accompanies honor)
Oryas*: Strong, proud and loud son of Yldr Danau. Is being groomed to be the next Yldr, and thus, has not chosen a kingdom. Rival to Xkoll. Enjoys shaming him.Name Meaning: (Foresight, Chosen son) (Honor and glory of the muscular frame and the sheen of sweat that coats a hard-fought warrior)
Kyndrau*: Young Viridian, sworn to Glandoria. Name Meaning: (Prince) (Inherited honor, high brow) (Wisdom)
Fyndau: Kind and lighthearted servant of Donindor and the Order of Nehara, now deceased.
Digan Lynx servant to the Danau family. Privately flogged by Oryas at Yldr Danau’s command for “impudence” after he dared to speak out of turn and question the Yldr’s reasoning. Friend of Xkoll.

Nygba, the Second

“The Fair House”

Yldr Nygba: Celynia’s mother, very aged, supporter of Xkoll.
Celynia*: Sworn to Queen Vyta of Alte Rynn. Disappeared when Pura vanished. Once betrothed love of Xkoll. Name Meaning: (Blue Moon) (Deep mysterious beauty that soothes, enchants and perplexes when in your hands.)
Tyndros: Sworn to the Order of the Martyrs.

Tolth, the Third

“The House of Courage.” Family that rose from lowest position after serving Vachelous

Yldr Tolth: Once young Viridian sworn to Vachelous during their rise to power. His service won his family the third most powerful seat in the Weyr. Formerly named Hathe.
Dryx: Sworn to the Order of the Martyrs.
Xalth: Formerly sworn to Tir Cindel. Killed in an attack by pirates while defending his fellow banished comrades, Alnya and Aelkd.
Ynquor: Sworn to Aldegour. Died in war.

Wynnensh, the Fourth

“The House of Dusk”

Yldr Wynnensh: Stays at the Weyr, oversees the Dyrvim of the Protectorate.
Forrensh*: Mysterious and often absent Viridian sworn to the Order of Nehara. Name Meaning: (The mystery that hangs in the mid-forest when you walk through canopied trees) (Twilight)
Dyrvim Wolf packs that serve Viridian Weyr as patrols in exchange for their clan territories. The packs are Clannad, Corfa, Conall, and Dubhe.

Orkha, the Fifth

“The House of Sight.” Family of Weyr Guard

Yldr Vona: Stays at the Weyr, oversees the Eagle Guard.
Farkha: Sworn to the Order of the Martyrs.
Orla*: Young, lost Viridian child, kept as slave of pirates in Pura. Name Meaning: (Sight) (Pure) (White beauty) (Song from the sea) (Little pearl)
Reagalim Guard, Serves Viridian Weyr as messengers and air patrol.

Ealyv, the Sixth

“The Devoted House.”

Yldr Ealyv: Yldr of Ealyv. Very critical of Aelkd.
Aekld*: Was one of the original three sworn to Tir Cindel. When Tir Cindel banished them, he remained at the Weyr. When Tir Cindel’s kingship changed and the racism lessened, he alone returned and serves there now. Name Meaning: (Red, like blood) (Fate) (Spilling out, emptying)
Ylyvia: Sworn to the Order of the Martyrs
Tryv: Sworn to the human king of Kalhderra.

Goorsha, the Seventh

“The House of Strength”

Yldr Goorsha: Yldr of Goorsha. Very rough exterior. Wings are paralyzed from Pale War.
Toorsha: Sworn to Glandora, formerly sworn to Aellyssar.
Xqorr: Sworn to Vachelous.
Waryn: Sworn to Kelindor.

Melawyn, the Eighth

“The House of Grace”

Yldr Melawyn: Yldr of Melawyn. Father of Iladyn, Aolyn, and Eodrynn.
Iladyn*: Oldest brother sworn to Maire Glaise. Adopted Guardian/father of Juniper. Name Meaning: (Winged flight, pressing higher into the sky) (grace)
Aolyn*: Middle twin sister sworn to Maire Glaise. Adopted Guardian/mother of Juniper. Name Meaning: (Beauty like a Song) (grace)
Eodrynn*: Youngest twin sister sworn to Maire Glaise. Adopted Guardian/mother of Juniper. Name Meaning: (Beauty like a mountain) (grace)
Mlenya: Sworn to the Elves of Kalhderra.

Xyrhos, the Ninth

“The House of Pride.”

Yldr Xyrhos: Yldr of Xyrhos. Very proud.
Tamari: Sworn to Kelindor
Sh’Vista: Sworn to Draldon
Orthos: Sworn to Bergenstaat.
Xyran: Sworn to Aizdihar as an advisor to the Sultan Haythem. Has not been heard of in several years and has not appeared at the latest Weyr assembly.

Lanai, the Tenth

“The House of Fire”

Yldr Lanai: Yldr of Lanai. Legendary for hottest fire.
Sonai: Sworn to Glandoria, formerly sworn to Aelyssar
Landau: Sworn to Torria, serves as captain.
X’zanai: Sworn to Kelindor
Lanau: Twin brother to L'Yra. Sworn to Elenthia
L'Yra: Twin sister of Lanau. Sworn to Elenthia.
Dynai: Kora’s father, married Ynai and helped her hide her heritage. Was executed once his daughter and wife’s bloodlines were discovered.
Ynai: Kora’s mother, secretly full-blooded Zakari rescued and adopted into Lanai family. When her and her daughter’s heritage was discovered, Ynai was tortured to death by order of the Weyr.
Kynai/“Kora”*: Half Zakari child. Her heritage was discovered when she came under examination for creating a lying scheme. All her life she had hidden her blue Zakari fire, but under examination she was forced to reveal it. She barely escaped with her life, but her parents were not so fortunate. She now wanders the Northern Wastes as a banished rebel, fighting and taming orcs and reigniting the skills of her Zakari heritage.
"Fire Talon": An orphaned Viridian girl whose parents were banished and died while she was young. Fire Talon does not reveal her true Viridian name, having never grown up at the Weyr. Instead she wanders Ashnuw, and, being an adventurer, fights pirates.
Fer'ynn: Vahl'Alkym to Aldegour. He lived the longest of his three fellow Valor-pledges, reaching the of his old age into Azaz's reign. Once the evil king took the throne, he had Fer'ynn kept in a dungeon. Once Fer'ynn learned the truth of how Azaz became king, he renounced his pledge and spent his last strength resisting the king. As a consequence, Azaz had him starved and torturously chained until he died.

Cudlyn, the Eleventh

“The House of Silence”

Yldr Cudlyn: Very quiet. Yldr of Cudlyn.
Krydlyn*: Sworn to Heuntsia. Initial orders were to simply have children so Heuntsia could have as many dragons as they could get.
Xalta*: “Mail order bride” and second cousin to Krydlyn. Wife and mother. Sworn to Heuntsia.
Gryra*: Eldest daughter of Krydlyn and Xalta. Sworn to Heuntsia from infancy. Has not been raised at the Cwtch.
Wudlyn*: Second son of Krydlyn and Xalta. Sworn to Heuntsia from infancy. Has not been raised at the Cwtch.

Zanith, the Twelth

“The House of Eternity”

Yldr Zanith: Long winded, aged Yldr of Zanith.
Gor’nith: Sworn to Draldon
Tyven: Sworn to Bergenstaat
Zana: Sworn to Torria, serves as law enforcer.

Eorym, the Thirteenth

“The House of Memorial.”

Yldr Eorym: Record Keeper of the Weyr
Kyorym: Sworn to Vachelous.
Eon: Sworn to Torria, serves as gatekeeper.
Dryn'myr: Sworn to Hoydvann

S’Vetca, the Fourteenth

“The House of Iron”

Yldr S’Vetca: Xkoll’s great uncle. Is shamed by his great nephew’s behavior and refuses to speak with him.
Oryander: Viridian sworn to the Centaur leader of Baleror.
Xkall: Xkoll’s father. Killed in battle during the Pale War. Formerly sworn to Aellyssar.
Klinya: Xkoll’s mother. Killed in battle during the Pale War.
Xkoll*: Sworn to the Kingdom of Pura, now the last of Pura. Has refused continuously to serve a different kingdom and has earned ridicule because of it. Name Meaning: (Death) (Fate) (Hard, Inpenetrable, like a high rock face) (The tangible sense of absence that fills a hollow place which once was filled but is now empty)
Simab* A rat rogue from Aizdihar, sworn to serve Xkoll. While being hung, he promised Elyon he would turn around his life and serve a creature of truth and learn Elyon’s ways should he live. Xkoll saved his life and Simab, true to his promise, has served Xkoll since.
Thera: Sworn to Aldegour. Died in war.

Joslo, the Last

“The House of the Sky.” Currently lowest family.

Yldr Joslo: Fat, older Yldr who stays at the Cwtch. Undisciplined and known for bringing shame on his family.
Delpho: Light-hearted, but secretive Viridian sworn to the Order of Nehara.
Virus: Sarynth’s earnest, silent father.
Siryna: Sarynth’s earnest, silent mother.
Sarynth: Young banished Viridian female. Punished for knocking down the council chandelier and for singing too much. Name Meaning: (Princess) (Purple flower) (Gem that glows in a hidden place)

Zakari, the Lost Family of the Weyr

“The House of Power.” Leading family that swore to serve Pale in the long forgotten and ancient days, led the entire Weyr into deception and evil and murder, and then were annihilated from existence. Their bones are kept on display in a hidden Crypt inside the Cwtch.
