Kilimor, Chapter 5—Juggernaut

Written by Dronin Gammerson
Most people misunderstood Juggernaut. They assumed that since he did not speak much and when he did he sounded unintelligible that he was stupid. This was most certainly not the case. Juggernaut was very intelligent, in his own way.   Juggernaut heard the alarm bell ring inside the castle. Knowing that Long-shot had not been able to take out all of the guards unnoticed. That meant that it was Juggernaut's turn to come in and fight everyone inside.   Juggernaut smiled at the thought. He enjoyed fighting, it was one of the few things that he excelled at. As he came near the castle Juggernaut saw that Long-shot was fighting three guards. Juggernaut knew that Long-shot could handle them but he also knew that more guards would be coming soon.   Juggernaut renewed his pace toward the gate. He had brought a large piece of wood from the camp site and two large rocks to get the gate open with. Once Juggernaut go to the gate he laid down the rock and placed the piece of wood on it with one side under the gate. Juggernaut than heaved on the piece of wood as hard as he could and slowly the gate raised up. Once the wood was touching the ground Juggernaut placed the other rock on the end of the piece of wood to keep it from rising and letting the gate down.   Juggernaut quickly grabbed his axe and charged into the castle yelling at all who would be on the other side.   “At the front gate!” someone yelled to the guards who were still trying to find out where the attack was coming from.   Now that they knew where the threat was coming from they turned to face the gate. Their hearts leaped as they saw that there was only one man. Then their hearts sank as they realized how big that one man was. Juggernaut charged them sweeping his axe across their line knocking them aside and killing many of them. The others that did not die were knocked against the building and broke a few bones making them unable to retaliate.   Juggernaut paid those against the buildings no heed as he charged  through swinging here and there in devastating arcs that mowed through the enemy lines. The guards and soldiers cowered in fear running away in different directions hoping to escape this massive unstoppable man. Some of them dropped their weapons and lay down hoping beyond hope that the attacker would pass them by without paying any attention. Juggernaut was okay with leaving those who did not wish to fight sit down and surrender. Juggernaut instead went towards the guards who stood up and fought. These were few and far between because many of them fled before him.   After the initial craze was over Juggernaut turned to the guard barrack where the guards on break and asleep would be, and probably some guards fled inside it seeking to escape.   Juggernaut was rewarded when he walked in to find five guards lounging in the room. With a roar Juggernaut charged the startled guards. Juggernaut swung his sword in a long sweep seeking to cut them down before they could get up and retaliate. By the time Juggernaut had gotten to them each of the guards had gotten up and were pulling their weapons out of their sheathes.   Juggernaut's side cut got caught on a large chair and stopped halfway to the guards. Juggernaut quickly released his axe from his hands and jumped back as one of the guards seeing his chance lunged with his sword.   Juggernaut pulled out his small knife that he used for carving and cleaning animals that he caught, and wearily circled the guards. At this point the guards had an obvious advantage on Juggernaut because he had only a small knife and they had swords.   That did not bother Juggernaut though as he was a much more skilled fighter than any common soldier. One of the guards decided that they had waited long enough and lunged with his sword at him. Juggernaut easily sidestepped the clumsy thrust and grabbed the off balance guard's hand and twisted violently. The guard screamed in pain and dropped his sword.   Juggernaut threw the guard away and picked up the sword wielding it in his right hand with the knife in his left hand. The guards took an involuntary step back, they had never seen someone so big move so quickly. None of them wanted to be the next victim of this giant unstoppable man. Juggernaut decided for them.   He charged forward at the guards making strikes at each of them. The guards threw clumsy blocks up stopping the deadly strikes from connecting and stepped back. Juggernaut picked one of the guards as his first target to take out. He than proceeded to strafe to the side making the one man the only facing him. Juggernaut quickly threw a blindingly fast series of attacks with his sword that seemed to come from all directions at once. The guard blocked as many as he could until one of his blocks was not quite quick enough and as he tried to deflect it the guard only pushed it slightly to the side which happened to be his heart. Once guard was down Juggernaut pressed the other guards with the same series of blinding attacks pushing them away and taking one in the shoulder. The guard screamed and fell. This quickly followed with the other guards. Juggernaut rapidly striking until their defenses fell. After taking out all of the guards Juggernaut picked up his axe and heard the distinct thud of a hand-cannon being fired.
