Kilimor, Chapter 4—Long-shot
Their plan was simple. Long-shot takes out the guards on the walls. Then Juggernaut charges in taking out all of the guards inside the walls. Once the guards are taken care of Buster goes in and sets charges to blow the place up and I go in to get the supplies we have lost.
With that plan in mind Long-shot set out for a higher vantage point to shoot his bow from. After searching for a small amount of time Long-shot found a small hill that would suit him for his purposes but was not so tall that it was very obvious.
Long-shot checked where the guards were making sure that he can take one out without the others knowing. He spotted a guard just about to round a corner with a cart full of hay behind it. Long-shot took out his bow and aimed at the man very carefully making sure to get the timing just right.
Thong! Long-shot released his shot which make very little noise due to the dampeners on the string. The guard didn't even know what hit him. He was shot right in the center of the chest and fell off the battlements without a sound.
On to the next target, The second guard was on the far right side of the wall that was connected to the cave walls. Long-shot used this to his advantage. In most cities they would have a waterway coming from inside the cave, and to make it so that there was more space for houses inside the city. They would make it beside the wall next to the cave wall.
That is exactly the way this was. So Long-shot waited until the guard walked to just the right position then. Thong! The shot was a good one. It went strait into the guards chest sending him stumbling back where he fell off into the water.
Long-shot's third target would be much trickier, Long-shot had gotten lucky with the first guard because of the cart below him but there was nothing to stop the shot from being known. So Long-shot's plan was to take out all three of the others in quick succession before the alarm could be raised.
Long-shot got three arrows ready and within easy reach than he drew one back taking as much time as he needed. Shot than quickly drew his second shot and fired. By now the third guard had seen the others go down and yelled that they were being attacked. Then an arrow slammed into his chest. Long-shot frowned they should not have been able to say anything. Ring! Ring! Ring! A bell sounded.
“This is not good,” Long-shot said.
He than drew an arrow and searched for whoever was ringing the bell. Ring! Ring! Ring! There he is! Long-shot whipped his bow around took a second to aim and shot. The man did not ring the bell anymore.
Long-shot decided that he needed a better vantage point. So he pulled the bow around his back and climbed down the hill he was on. Sprinting Long-shot headed to the far right side of the wall. Once there he climbed the wall at a steady pace making sure that he got good handholds and footholds.
Long-shot made it up and looked around. The guards were running around everywhere, getting weapons and armor. Long-shot searched the scrambling mass for someone in command. There! Someone was shouting for all of the guards to grab armor and weapons and where to search for the intruder.
Long-shot drew, aimed and shot in about two seconds. The arrow had barely left his bow when three guard came up the stairs to Long-shot's left. The guards came at Long-shot with swords yelling at what looked like to them a helpless archer that could only shoot. Long-shot quickly dropped his bow and pulled out two long daggers.
The guards still saw Long-shot as an easy target and came at him without worrying too much about the daggers. After all, most archers carried some kind of melee weapon but were never very good at it certainly not as good as a soldier.
Long-shot was an exception. He quickly ducked under the leading guard's clumsy sword swing and stabbed him in an upward motion under the ribs puncturing the heart. Before the guard even hit the ground Long-shot spun around still staying low, and kicked the legs out from under the second guard. Making a quick thrust downward on the guard's chest with his dagger, Long-shot got up parried the third guard's sword with an X from his daggers while the sword was still above his head. This made the guard out of balance because he had expected resistance later in his swing. Once out of balance Long-shot took one dagger out but left the other there to keep the sword from coming down, and thrust his dagger through the guard's chest.
This all took place in a matter of a few seconds. Long-shot stepped back and sheathed his daggers. He quickly picked up his longbow from the ground.
That is when Long-shot heard a loud roar and he knew that Juggernaut had decided to join the fight.
