Asgard Introduction

Welcome to Asgard, a Forgotten Realm overrun by Goblin Races. The Gods have vanished. Dwarves and Gnomes have been wiped from existence. The last city of Greyston holds what's left of the Elves, Halflings, and Humanity who struggle to survive with hardship and scarcity. The only hope remaining is the hero's that enter, from time to time, and attempt to pull Asgard back and give it a chance to survive.

The Basics

  • Asgard has an Early Medieval Era Culture with a hint of Steampunk
  • Asgard is a Low-Medium Magic Setting - think Conan the Barbarian (magic exists, Magic users of a very high level, whether divine or otherwise, are the stuff of legend)
  • No permanent magic weapons function within the world.
  • Mundane Magic items (e.g., potions, scrolls, and wands) are more common.

Magic

  • Asgard is sealed
  • No dimensional travel works within the Realm
  • No permanent magic weapons function within the Realm
  • A Magical Hammer "Agatha" is the only know magical weapon in the Realm and floats in the fountain of Greyston waiting for one worthy to wield it
  •

    The Gods Have Abandoned Asgard

For unknown reasons the Gods have abandoned the Realm. The channel by which the gods could communicate with mortals has been cut. Today, true believers still pray and ask for guidance, and few swear their prayers are answered.
  • Clerics Clerics draw their power from one of the forces of nature
  •

    Races

Dwarves and Gnomes have been wiped from the Realm. The only Dwarves that remain are the Derro Half-Elves are also evil within the Realm   Humanity , Elves, and Halflings have been nearly wiped from the realm - the few that survive have huddled together in the Town of Greyston

    Goblins

Asgard is mainly populated by Goblins Tribes
    1. Black Moon Goblins – most numerous. The Black Moon Goblins aggressive, self-sufficient, organized.
    2. Broken Skull Goblins – vindictive, and ambitious, with a natural inclination toward hierarchies and social order.
    3. Dread Eye Tribe – sneaky and crafty; some possess wings allowing them to fly.

    Themes

Isolation and Collapse - the remaining town of Greyston is all that is left. Cut of from resources, and any hope of expansion, with constant goblin threats that cannot be overcome alone.   Renewal - the heroes of the setting have a chance to turn the tide, discover resources, rebuild and improve, and experience a better version of Asgard where perhaps Humanity can flourish once more.   Survival - Greyston and it's denizens faces hardships, many failures, and great odds.  The heroes have a chance to change the odds.
