Written by Rat_King

"The unscaled are upon us, ward them off our lands!"

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Average Intelligence

Their average intelligence fare just below that of humans and dwarves, for they too form their own places of learning as they pass down knowledge to their young.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Nazca magic is unique compared to the Lecarnic style of magic schools. The Nazca can send out water sprouts or send a field of fire but that magic can't compare to the magnitude of the elven schools. What they lack in focus, gives way to variety, when a Nazca mage sprays water at their adversary it is often paired with the touch of poison and the smoke that comes out from their fire causes a haze of dizziness. Their magic often comes in small doses but always is tricky to figure out unlike the straightforward magic of the Elves.   The most known magic that comes from the Nazca is the use of electricity and thunders. Generally practiced by thunderpriests, they call upon the skies to be struck by lightning and once they get thunderstruck they are now given the ability to hurl thunderbolts and electrocute their foes.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Face painting is an observed tradition for Nazca of all cultures, it is considered more as a religious act as painting one's face in a specific manner emulates the avatar of a god. For example, a red face paint covering the upper half of the face emulates the bloodthirst of the war god possibly granting the power that he/she would kill ten men in the battlefield and blue face paint of two parallel lines crossing through the eyelids is said to emulate the skill of the fisher god, granting the boon of good harvest.

History

Prior to the arrival of the Senecans, the Nazca only have themselves to wage war upon. Often their wars were for land or for religious fervor. Notably, there were three major civilizations that shaped the Nazca before the arrival; the bloodthirsty and warmongering Yuxapin of the great desert, the beacon of culture and progress, the scholarly Izacan of the jungles, and finally the great architects that stood atop the mountain ranges, the Molca. Many times these civilizations would clash, and many times it would all end in a stalemate.   The monotony of the three civilizations would end at the arrival of the Senecans. The first party came as a lost voyage, great wooden boats that would tower over Nazcan riverboats bringing about scaleless men speaking an unknown language dressing in strange clothing and carrying rods that mimicked the sound of thunder and fire a metal ball that killed. The Yuxapin managed to repel these strangers, but half a century came and these strange men came in droves, crossing the vast ocean into their lands. They made themselves known as the Senecans composed of aliens species who call themselves humans, dwarves, and orcs.   The Senecans came in conflict with the local Nazca, taking over the Izacan whilst warring amongst themselves. Fast forward towards the contemporary period, both Senecan and Nazca managed to tolerate each other's existence, not fully committing into a war against each other but also not at peace with each other.

Historical Figures

King Uzin III

(Full Name: Ix Panpacatal Uzin III) The last king of the Panpacatal dynasty and the last ruler of the Izacan Nazca. As the Trebonese armies pushed through the Izacan territories, king Uzin found himself in a dilemma as his forces were badly overpowered by the Senecans. He made the hard decision to surrender himself and his kingdom in order to save his cities from fire and gunpowder, allowing for the scholastic works of the Izacan to survive the onslaught. He lived the rest of his life as a protectorate of Tebonia.

God-King Ozuma I "The Thunder"

(Full Name: Ozuma Tlanoch I) Usurper and the seventh god-king of the Yuxapin Nazca. Often regarded as the greatest thunderpriest in all of Carrion, the man who didn't need to call upon the skies to grant him the boon of thunder and the man whose bolts struck tenfold than any other thunderpriest could ever inflict. After calling out the previous god-queen for losing the favor of the great Yuxacoatl, he challenged her right to rule in a duel and won. Becoming "the thunder" Tlanoch as he ripped her heart out as a sacrifice to the Yuxacoatl where he was granted the throne of the Yuxapin. He spent the rest of his life conquering smaller tribes and warring against the Izacan and Molca. He was succeeded by his eldest daughter Itzel.

Lady Sacha "The Architect"

(Full name: Sacha Cusi Huascar) 3rd wife of the Sapa Molca and builder of the mountain cities. Prior to her arrival, the Molca were backed up against the might of the Izacan and the Yuxapin taking their fertile lands and leaving just behind infertile and inarable lands. If their people weren't starving from the food shortage, they were prisoners of war waiting to be sacrificed, little by little the Molca were being extinguished. Then came lady Sacha, a learned woman who studied in Izacan pyramids, suggested that they should abandon their life in the plains and build an empire in the mountains. Convincing took some time for the Molca but eventually, they would all move to the mountains slowly adapting and mastering life above land.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

  • The Senecan races; Humans, dwarves, and orcs are the only races they often interact with. With that said their relationship has always been shaky as the Senecans have always been seen as invaders, completely taking over the Izacan Nazca. But nowadays it has become far more complicated, many of the conquered Nazca have assimilated and the ones that didn't(Yuxapin, Molca, and independent tribes) would fight back with such ferocity often prompting the Senecans to just leave them be.
  • The Beastmen are a race that came from the lands of Rhoygir, often brought to the continent as slaves from Senecan galleons. They would often interact with the natives, exchanging stories and occasionally forming slave revolts
  • The Nazca are very unfamiliar with the elves, having only limited interactions with them and only hearing about them in stories told by the Senecans.
