Trains & train system
Trains on planet Terra
depend on multiple different powering methods, don't have to limit themselves on just human crew and are completely protected against most kinds of possible harm.
An interesting thing to note about them is the ability to stabilize themselves and quite literally fly. So - should an earthquake happen and the rail tracks drop into a suddenly formed void under - the train can keep on going, flying through the air maintaining course and not dropping any cars in the process.
Power Generation
Most of the in-town trains run only on light-power (solar & lunar light powering cells that provide the necessary energy to move the train)
When the distance extends to outside of a town magic batteries get added to the light-power cells. Those are the same magic batteries that move the smaller personal rides known as broombikes.
The trains that are to go international or do an "all-around-the-world" kind of runs get their light-power cells, up to twenty magic batteries as well as a light-year-shard (which gives any vehicle it's attached to the ability to reach light-year speeds and not just planet-restircting ones)
Price
The ticket price for a train ride depends on where you need to go: the North side of Rockdoors would be 20Le; To Paris or London it starts from 70Le
Rarity
Not rare at all; Almost everyone uses them - some do so daily
Height
3,5m for the shortest trains
Speed
max speed: speed of light
Complement / Crew
100 member crew, most of them non-human and hiding from sight
Cargo & Passenger Capacity
up to 500,000 passengers or 2tons of cargo
Any train that travels on Terra has a magically strengthened diamond coating of all of its external components & sections. That, alongside an actual magical shield protect from harm with the size of dragons fighting, nuclear explosion or big asteroids hitting the train directly; and provides all passengers with the ultimate safety.
All trains are equipped with three main forms of communication: the radio system - which connects drivers to main stations for orders, news, change of routes, etc; messenger bats - they live in a car that holds a furnace and decent amount of coal should all other powering methods fail for some reason. The messenger bats are specially trained to carry out and around messages to the closest inhabited train stations in case the train gets blocked somewhere or something breaks and help is needed. The third communication method is the gem lines - they connect the driver directly to one or more sentient gem beings who are a lot like elite forces for dealing with a train stranded through a portal and gone to a different world by accident. Or somehow the light-year shard gets damaged and sends the train in space.
