The Disappearance of Jefferson Deerhead

In the world of Forice there is a massive somewhat self-induced idea that "the Forice continent is the only land". However as of 2015 more researchers have been travelling outside of the continent and bringing back evidence of other lands. New lands. New islands, continents and oceanic phenomena. 

Last month, June of 2022, researcher and Royal Family delegate John Krown returned from a seven-month travel to the north-eastern parts of Phantoreneige with a very peculiar and worry-inducing discovery.

e brought back pieces of a backpack, broken compass, a locket that was recognized as a family heirloom and most importantly - a magical holographic crystal with very damaged, but still somewhat readable recordings. He claimed he made the discovery on a very dark-looking and plant-covered island, seemingly not too big from the air. When his team watched the holographic diary the young man recording it seemed to get in worse physical condition and much more scared with every following addition. The background noise suggested the crew he was with had been attacked by unexpected life forms existing under the endless canopy of the island. The backpack and locket were found in a small clearing near a black lake not too far from the shore and the compass and crystal were in the branches of a tree where John managed to grab them without having to land, from flight.

Upon watching whatever they could, the research team took the course of action to fly over and take photos of any notable landmarks. They returned right after that, not attempting to enter, in order to report to Her Majesty and consult with her for further plans and eventual deeper look under the shadowy sea of trees.

Historical Details

Background

Post-discovery research shows that in 766 a Jefferson Harley-Deerhead, son of a baker and a potion-mistress from the city of mages, requested a Royal Permission to sail off the continent with his "crew". He was denied the Permission with the reasoning that he's underage, not trained to sail a ship and  without parental consent. After the denial his tracks disappear.

"We've been here for more than two weeks....I stopped counting the days after the second one passed. So far we've seen no signs of animals - there's only plants around - everywhere - you can't even see the ground from them and the sky is hidden by the trees' crowns. It's so dark all the time. I don't understand."

_{The locket has been returned to the parents of Jefferson Harley-Deerhead and they were shown the recordings from the crystal. His mother, after the initial shock, said that on the hologram it seemed like her son has something on his hands looking like tattoos but he never had tattoos in his life. His father noted that he'd noticed one of the boys' eyes was unusual color and the bottom of his left ear seemed to be bitten off.}
