King / Queen of Arthos

Held by the current ruler of Arthos, it is passed down through family and can only be bestowed to a Prince, Princess, or Kings/Queens Ward.

Qualifications

A King or Queen must have knowledge of the history of Arthos, the needs of their people, the political situations with surrounding kingdoms, speak common, sylvan, and undercommon, and be a Prince, Princess, or Ward.

Requirements

As stated previously, only those who hold the titles of Prince, Princess, or Ward can become a King or Queen.

Appointment

When one is raised to status of King or Queen, there is a special ceremony held in the Capital. The current rules passes on their crown to the one who will become the next ruler. They will then bow and escort the new ruler to the throne and once the new ruler sits on it, they are welcomed as the new King or Queen.

Duties

A ruler's duty, above all else, is ensuring the safety of their people. Different rules interpret this in different ways.

Responsibilities

The ruler will ensure the safety of their people, figure out the price of taxes, manage trade routes, organize meetings with other rulers, oversee the training of the soldiers, etc.

Benefits

The ruler of Arthos has nearly all the political power of the country, is very wealthy, and has nearly the entire country at their disposal.

Accoutrements & Equipment

There is no official dress code for royalty, but rulers are encouraged to wear clothes befitting their station. The most important thing is the Royal Crown, which the ruler must always wear when in public.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

If the ruler wishes harm against their own people, it's up to the royal guard to detain them and strip them of their power. The crown will then go to the next in line.

History

The first ruler of Arthos was Queen Eliara. There is recorded history proving she existed, however she is also found in the Myth of the Mage. She supposedly was close to the mages and upon their deaths flew into a rage and killed the invading army single-handedly, the magic of her friends flowing through her veins.

Notable Holders

Queen Eliara is the most famous ruler in the history of Arthos, as she was the very first to ever rule.
