Tamers of Beasts

To the North Eastern section of Hyfall is home to the denizens of the Owl tribe. Members of the Norn that practice the art of taming beats. Of all the Norn locations this area is the most closed off. The Owl tribe are very protective of these lands at the behest of their beastly companions. According to the Norn, the beasts that they communicate with are very territorial and do not like visitors that cannot 'hear their songs'. because of this, the other tribes do not travel to Nort Guard unless it is of importance or are invited. Because of their respect for the land, the Owl Tribe only have 2 settlements. And most choose to live in the larger town of Jör, or in the words in smaller isolated homes.

 

Jör

Jör is the primary city in Nort Guard. This is the larges settlement in the forest. The bulk of the Owl tribe live here as well as work and trade. In the center of the town is the home of the tribe matron where she resides with her mate and family. In the town tamed animals walk free and are given the same rights as citizens. It is not uncommon to see a a tribe member walking around with their Gryphon in tow. As for construction, the town is laid out in a particular patter in such a way to funnel would be attackers into bottle necks to be easier to fight. There are 4 main road that lead down particular paths towards the center.

 

Salvarr

Salvarr is a small lake side town. It is the main path of transportation from Nort Guard to the other tribes across the the lake. As well as their primary method of trading and receiving supplies. Ferries link the distance across the lake as well as private boats. If an outsider wishes to enter the Owl tribes territory it but come through this town before they are allowed to come any further. Not many Norn live inside the town though a lot of the tradesmen travel and run their businesses here.

 

Lael

Lael translate to 'decision' in the Norn language. This is the place of decision, where two rival women fight for their right to claim a mate. Around the arena are statues carved to the likeness of ancient Norn warriors. This is a constant reminder to the combatants. To ensure that they fight honorably.

 

Elron Mountains and Forest

The Elron mountains server two purposes. This serves as the primary hunting grounds for the tribe. Most of the largest and prime game are are located. This is also the hunting grounds for the Norn courtship ceremony where the females select their mates.

 

Whispering Pass

The Norn the pass with out honor are not allowed to burn in the Var'jor. They are buried in unmarked graves away from the people. According to legend, when the cold wind blows. The voices of the honorless can be heard. Quiet whispers and low cries of sorrow and begging for forgiveness.

 

Vol Tal

The most sacred location in all of Hyfall. Here in the cliffs is where the wild Gryphons reside. Norn who are not part of the Owl Tribe are not allowed inside Vol Tal. Not by decree of the Matron but by the Gryphon pride leader. trespassers are not given any levity. They will be attacked with the intent to kill. Vol Tal is riddled with caves that dot the mountain paths. And wild untamed gryphons are eager to attack the uninitiated.

Geography

Nort Guard is part of the mountain Valley of Hyfall. It is covered in forests and lined with tall snow capped mountains. Crag like cliffs create deep and long passes that tower above the ground. Water from the melting snow streams from the peaks in the form of rivers and creaks. They stream into the large lake at the center of the greater valley.

This location feels great! I get a strong urge to go out and run with the wolves until I find the arena of Lael! :) Thx for this amazing place :)
