Shakha's Healing Hut
Purpose / Function
Shakha's Healing Hut is xyr working place, where xe treats patients. It's a place of healing, magic and study. Even though Shakha doesn't live there, xe often spends the night to practice healing magic and techniques or read up on ancient rituals in some book. Xe also often mixes new tinctures, salves, balms and potions.
Design
The hut consists of one circular main room, big enough to hold a bed, a table, a stool, two chairs, a fireplace and a few shelves lining the walls. There is an en suite bathroom in the shape of a semi circle, which is just big eniugh to hold a bathtub, a big bucket of cold water and a glass canister with access to rainwater, which is heated by a fire in a seperate compartment of that canister.
Entries
There is a door facing north, which is the only entry and exit of the building. Another door connects the main room and the en suite.
Sensory & Appearance
The hut is always warm and smells like herbs, balms, candle wax, smoke, incense and something slightly metallic, resembling blood. The room is lit with a warm golden light coming from the glass fire place. Candles are also burning often.
Denizens
Shakha is there most of the time and whatever patients xe is treating at the moment.
Contents & Furnishings
There are many books, scrolls, loose sheets of parchment full of notes. Bowls, jars and bottles filled with different substances are stored on shelves on the walls. There is a box holding an assortment of strange instruments standing on a three-legged stool. Mortar and pistil, crystals, incense sticks and ritual knives are also to be found in the hut.
Valuables
There are books and scrolls of great power stored in Shakha's hut, as well as many highly potent balms, salves, tinctures and potions.
Alterations
Part of the tree has been hollowed out to make space for a washing room, which contains a bathtub. It was made so patients could be cleaned before treatment.
Architecture
The hut is made from wood. It is circular and domed, so it looks like a half sphere from outside. The wood is brown and has ornate carvings in it, which were painted gold.
History
Like many other healing houses, Shakha's hut was built a few hundred years ago on the bese layer of Faoz Amlir in order to grant easy access for wounded hunters or crafters. Shakha took ownership of the hut when xe passet xyr exam and became a Duichadz. Ever since then, Shakha has been working in the small space, treating everything from small afflictions to serious, life-threatening wounds. There is only one cot for one patient to stay in longer treatment at once, but Shakha can make space and spread out a bedroll more, and in the worst case scenario, the bathtub can be converted to a bed as well. Shakha is very fond of xyr working space and wouldn't trade it for the world.
