Church of Death

The Church of Death is the religious order that follows the teachings and beliefs of Ira, Goddess of Death. This order is the calmest and most peaceful of all the religious orders, tending to embrace all that come into their order and respecting the passing of those that have come before. They are one of the only orders who will take in the sick and dying as their clerics. 
All churches that follow Ira will have a garden inside where the bodies of those that have passed on are remembered and carved into a large lantern, never lit, and similar to her holy symbol. This is to represent the Garden of Passing, Ira's realm and the afterlife.

Structure

The Church of Death has a hierarchy that is the same as all the other churches in the Arrasgoth Pantheon apart from the Church of Arcana. The highest member of their church would be the High Priest, but there are those few who are given the blessing of Ira who are known as The Chosen who are above all others. There are paladins and clerics that serve the domain of Death, but also priests and others who spread the word. Ira's words are passed down through conversations that were recorded by scribes that have been had with her.

Mythology & Lore

The culture of the Church of Ira is focused upon the idea of celebrating the lives of those that have passed on and keeping their memory alive with their stories. The church is welcoming but quiet, often looking more for those that are about to pass on into death than those who are healthy and vibrant. They often speak to Ira, asking for her blessings to pass on the stories and lives of those that have gone to Keel, God of the Grave.
