Welcome to the World of Aronia
The Aronia game is set in an ancient world, called Aronia, abruptly left behind by a magically advanced society. It is a world of lost and forgotten magics. It is a world of people seeking to regain or destroy the remnants of memories of those magics and the people who left them. While we say “this world,” this is really just a guess.
People call it a world, but there is yet another mystery to contend with. Hundreds of years ago, a desperate band of people came through a portal to an abandoned city they named Kington. The city was beautiful with buildings of white marble and cobbled streets overgrown with foliage. It became clear to these people that this city was abandoned for some reason, and long ago. Most items were deteriorated beyond repair and the city was overrun with plant life. The architecture was impressive with pillars and domes, but most of all was a pristine structure in the center of the town square; a gate the size of a door way, and next to it a station filled with rune-scarred cubes.
Using these cubes with the gate created a portal, not unlike the one they came to this city with, but somehow different, more stable. Most cubes took these people to a new similar city with their own set of runed cubes, though not the same collection. Some, however, took the gate explorers to strange and dangerous locations shrouded in mystery. Because of this, the location of one city compared to another are almost always unknown. Not every city may even be in Centerra, but another dimension entirely!
Further exploration yielded a fantastic discovery and a frightening one to match. An artifact in a place of importance in each city, humming with power. It would later be discovered at a terrible price that this artifact emitted a field which kept the outside world at bay. The first of these artifacts, later named Indesian artifacts, to be discovered was removed, the world fell in. Monsters quickly swarmed the walls of the city, overwhelming the mundane masonry too fast to be dealt with. The price of this knowledge was a potential home.
As time went on, more became apparent. The cities, called the Indesian City States, were all built in places of natural shelter, keeping them safe from extreme weather, and in areas of bountiful natural resources necessary for survival. The Aronian people to this day do not want for shelter, food, or water. They have enough to keep themselves clothed and comfortable and do not see any problem for the foreseeable future in survival. However, when are a people satisfied with just survival?
Explore a world rife with adventure and reason to explore. Find merchants who are willing to pay for others to discover paths to the cities. Contract with ecologists who wish to learn about the nature of the world around them. Hunt with warriors who desire to take down the deadliest game. Lead anthropologists on delves into ancient ruins to learn about the peoples who left this world behind. Possibly most tantalizing of all, seek the answers to the obvious question… why did they leave?
