Eniriol Character in The Chronicles of Arn | World Anvil

Eniriol

Aelendárin warrior and scout for the Elven forces during the Siege of Níenost.   He learned about Ungloloth's betrayal of Baugoth and returned to Níenost to report it to Cueneriël and the Conclave of Light. He was intercepted by an enemy fire giant, who was riding a Greater Shadowwing. They fought in mid-air and crashed into the council chamber of the Citadel at Níenost.   After the giant and its mount were dispatched by the elves, including members of the Conclave and the Strangers, Eniriol reported what he knew. The Conclave asked if the Strangers would accompany him on his return mission to learn more about the rift between Baugoth and his consort.   While scouting the battle between Baugoth and Ungloloth, a bolt of errant lightning struck Eniriol's gryhir and the warrior plunged to his death.
While scouting the battle between Baugoth and Ungloloth, a bolt of errant lightning struck Eniriol's gryhir and the two tumbled from the sky. Stergen dove his mount toward the stricken pair. He leapt from the saddle to try and reach Eniriol while his gryhir sought the elf's mount. Alas, Stergen had been too far away and was unable to rescue Eniriol before the scout smashed abruptly into the ground with finality. Stergen barely avoided the same fate by narrowly pulling out of his own dive.
Eniriol's steed met a happier, if still painful fate. Stergen's gryhir managed to redirect the other's fall sideways into the charred forest down the mountain slope and, despite many cuts and bruises, both creatures survived the landing.
The Strangers recovered Eniriol's body and returned him to Níenost, where he was later taken to Soth Túrilan and laid to rest.
