Argolen
Terrain as rough and unapologetic as the Argonites themselves...
Argolen; a largely isolated kingdom on the world of Toril, located in a continent somewhere to the far west of Faerûn. To the north, the treacherously icy heights of the Northern Range, an impenetrable natural bulwark. To the south, the Isles of Cárog, beyond which lie boundless oceans. The most practical routes to reach Argolen are from the East or West; both via a worthy seafaring vessel that can rough the waves.
The native people of Argolen tend to go by the name of Argonite(s), especially in the more urban areas, but some older parts of Argolen, as well as the most rural areas, retain the archaic usage of 'Argonian'. Stereotypes of the Argonian people include bluntness, resilience, and adaptability, as they learn from a young age to harden themselves to the environmental extremes of the kingdom. To compare Argolen's design and customs to our world, it would likely be a fusion of Old Norse and Celtic practices.
Geography
Climate:
- North: Heavy snowfall and glaciated areas cover the tallest mountain range, measuring between the low end of Temperate to the coldest depths of Arctic climates depending on the location
- South: Fairly humid, bordering on the Tropical/Sub-Tropical divide based on the time of year; although, this side of Argolen is sparsely populated due to how inaccessible much of it can prove to be
- East: An unforgiving desert climate dominates much of this side of Argolen, where dry environments and sandstorms are common, populated by the likes of both opulent palace-owners and lowly desert scroungers
- West: By far the most agreeable and balanced climate of the realm, with long, warm summers, and snowy winters; the majority of Argolen's food production stems from here
