Giea (formerly 'Gaia')
During the civil war in Spieret, Three prominent families, or 'Clans' escaped Spieret and travelled to the outpost of Bu'sha. Near the border they built a castle grounds , but only one castle was built before a rebel attack from Spieret. The three Clans moved more inland and founded Giea. As Spieret continued with its civil war, more and more Animen looked to Giea for peace.
To this day, Giea remains a oligarchy controlled by three prominent families. They live in the Northern part of the City of Giea, in the Lord's District. The maintain their wealth and power from owning mines, as well as collecting taxes from the entire kingdom in return for trained soldiers. One clan controls the military. The second controls trade. The third controls the city, which can include food, water, infrastructure, and festivals.
Giea is known for its close relationship with the forest. Hunters and gatherers are considered an honourable occupation, although Giea still has farms. The Kingdom trades exclusively with Iera and Spieret and worships Maker and her Five Children. It is unacceptable to practice other religions.
The town of Fia sits at the northern edge of the border along the outflow of Birk River to the Sea and supplies the inland city with salted fish. Bu'sha is the town that remains next to the ruined castle of Bu'sha, and between two heavily guarded outposts that guard the bridges over the river. Many soldiers and their families settle here. Close by, the city of Do'tun also lies along the river. Many refugees settle at Do'tun as it is the closest town when you cross into Giea. Many ships are built here before they sail out to Fia or further into the Kingdom of Iera.
