Coria Demótri

Coria Demótri was an Arcadian human who lived from 1362 to 1410. She is renowned among Arcadians for her defeat of the pirate lord Makili the Reaver, who was a deadly threat along the coasts of Arcadia 1387 to 1391.
In 1390, Coria narrowly escaped from a raid led by Makili, in which her best friend, Deseria Isaros, was captured by the pirates. She swore to rescue her friend and take their revenge on Makili. At first she was one of hundreds whose lives had been ruined by the Reaver, but Coria soon showed herself to be far more capable than most. She gathered together several other survivors of the raid and traveled to Adholis, signing on as crew for Makili. When he returned to port, having lost several crew members, Coria and her band replaced the casualties.
When Makili set out again, sailing east past Alsyllio, crew members began to vanish in the night. First the night watchers began to fall overboard with abnormal regularity, then the quartermaster disappeared as he stepped out of the cabin a few days later. Superstition grew, and the crew began to mutter about the "Sea Ghost" that was punishing them for sailing east. Makili would not tolerate this superstition, believing that a crew member was responsible, but the crew simply changed the subject when their captain appeared.
Suddenly, two days after the quartermaster's disappearance, the crew's superstitions were inflamed. Coria had put on a costume of a tattered canvas and seashells and banged on the portholes for several minutes. With a sighting of the "Sea Ghost," Makili could no longer control his crew. The pirates mutinied, giving Coria the chance she needed to throw Makili overboard like his crew while her partners knocked holes in the bottom of the ship. As it sank, she shouted, "Death comes to the Reaver from Coria Demótri!"
Coria became famous for her destruction of the famous pirate, and continued to fight against the remnants of the Adholian pirates until her recent death in 1410. Without her, Arcadia may well have lost control of the eastern seas to Makili. Her legacy lives on in the Kingdom of Arcadia with an experimental type of ship named the Demótri.
