The Isle of Narthi

The Isle of Narthi is an island off the east of the New Lands. Discovered only after the attempted colonisation of the New Lands, Narthi is home to a variety of wildlife not seen anywhere else in Aremus. While some have attempted to colonise Narthi over the years, it has been considered not worth the effort. Narthi contains many variant biomes, that are not seen elsewhere in Aremus. These include the mushroom forests, jungle peaks and volcanic lava lakes. Each of these biomes contains at least one new kind of fauna that does not exist elsewhere in the world. This makes Narthi a unique place for scientists and practicers of magic to study.   The mushroom forests have been a major source of intrigue for those studying Narthi. While rumours of fey exist across Aremus, they are doubly so in these forests. Within the forests dwell herds of Fungai Horses, a variant of horse that grows fungal-like growths on their back and underneath. These growths can be cut off like hair in order to create a stable surface for a saddle to sit on. While most would shy away from riding such a creature, those staying on Narthi treat riding one as a right of passage.   Jungle Peaks of Narthi contain remnants of an ancient race of snake-like folk who used to dwell in the mountains of Narthi. These people still have ruins of their civilisation dotting the landscape, leading researchers to ponder their disappearance. Further rumours of these snake people of Narthi still existing in order to capture unaware travellers is common amongst the dwellers of Narthi.   Only one town exists on Narthi, at the west most point of the island. This town, Westpoint, exists to serve as a base for researchers and explorers into Narthi. Further attempts at civilisation have been stymied due to issues with the transport of goods, and lack of valuable resources. The further into Narthi someone travels however, the more gold, silver and other rare minerals can be found. This leads many explorers and adventurers to Narthi, in hopes of making a living from these findings.
