The Castellana Lyceum

As a Mage's Lyceum, Castellana's chapter also holds no organizational structure. The campus is located within the city walls, near the Gravesend district. Due to Castellana's unique traditions related to their deceased, the Castellanan Lyceum focuses on the arcane art of necromancy. Many outsiders are, to put it lightly, put off by the focus on this often dark art, but the people of Castellana view it as totally normal.
Many of the mages who study at the lyceum are hired by the wealthier families of Castellana to animate their deceased loved ones during the holidays. In this culture, it is believed that the magic simply opens up the vessels that are the bodies of the loved ones and temporarily allows their souls to reenter. Fortunately, there are only two confirmed cases of these hired mages losing control of their animated corpses, causing the death of a few citizens. People largely blame the families of these accidents, saying they didn't let their family member rest when they truly wished to.
Another common task that mages of this lyceum are hired for is to preserve the bodies of the deceased. There are very specific rituals that the traditions of Castellanans demand, and one aspect of this is to decorate the body of the deceased in multi-colored paints, and to preserve the flesh. The patterns, as well as the colors, of the paints, typically indicate important traits or deeds of the deceased, and the families are celebrating their loved one's past life by doing so.
