Description

The Braccian League, while not an official nation, is the collection of city-states that are in the regions near the Bracciano Sea. City-states typically join the Braccian League for economical purposes, and even for security.   Trade flows between cities within the Braccian League like water down a river. The economies of these cities are booming, and they thrive on trade. Many cities within the League are governed by various guilds, rather than kings or senates. There is no official government for the Braccian League, though the rulers of each city typically have a say in the policies of the League.

Virtues

Independence

Most cities within the League do not belong to any formal nation, and the ones that do are very independent from other cities within the nation. While they all do belong to the Braccian League, the only purpose of the League itself is protection from outside threats.   There is no higher authority than the leadership of each individual city, and even then most of the leadership are merely figureheads. Many of the cities simply have a council or something similar that do what they can to keep the city organized, but nearly all services, goods, etc are provided by guilds, merchants, and the like.

Acceptance of Others

Every city within the League is a vast melting pot of other cultures, religions, and people. Most regions have an original culture that existed before Üth conquered the entire eastern half of the continent. During Üth’s reign, these cultures all begin to mix within the Empire. Now that the cities are free once more, they have brought back some of their heritage, but largely embrace the open-minded nature that existed back then.

Religion

There is not a single pantheon of gods within the League, and certainly not a single god. Anybody is free to create a temple to whatever god they want, and nobody bats an eye. Worshipers of the Divine Light are welcome, and Üth’s pantheon (The Nameless) are the most frequently worshiped, but gods and beliefs from literally all across Ardunor are seen within these cities.

Wealth

There is a very clear division of wealth between the rich and poor in most city-states of the Braccian League. Guild leadership makes fortunes off of the vast amount of trade within the league. Lesser guild members experience many benefits and insurances of working for the guilds. They never have to fear living in the streets and begging for food. That does not, however, mean that they are paid well, but it does change from guild to guild. Non-guild members, by contrast, are offered no such securities. The wealth of these individuals can vary wildly, but the vast majority live in poverty or very near it.
