Nichteb River

The Nichteb river flows out of the Tågbaf mountains and into the fertile land of Ethfamen where it pours its waters into the already substantial Ammihlit river at the small city of Fexlil.

Geography

The Nichteb starts high in the Tågbaf mountains, where it is barely a trickle. Fed by numerous glaciers it quickly grows in size becoming a major river by the time it plunges out of the Tågbaf foothills. Once in the plains it winds its way to Fexlil where it joins with the Ammihlit river to complete its journey to the sea.

Fauna & Flora

Like its sister, the Ammihlit, the Nichteb is home to numerous species of fish, including trout, bass, gar, and others. It is also the only river, apart from the Ammihlit to be home to the breed of perch known as clown fish. Many waterfowl such as ducks, geese, and swans make their homes along the shore, and otters and beavers can be found along it’s reaches. A variety of reptiles, like snakes, and turtles including snapping turtles make their home in the river. In addition, almost all the animals native to the Frontier Lands can be found along its length. Additionally, an abundance of plants call the Nichteb home, including both aquatic plants and terrestrial plants lining the banks. Like the Ammihlit the Nichteb is home to many monstrous dangers such as aboleth, , giant dragonfly nymphs, giant gar, giant hellgrammites, kelpie, freshwater merrow, nereid, and giant snapping turtles can be found in its currents.

Natural Resources

The Nichteb is rich in fish and other wildlife, and provides both food, and fresh water to many communities along its length. In addition, it also provides both power in the form of water wheels, and transport within the kingdom of Ethfamen.
