The Adventurer's Travel Guide

A Guided Tour of the Known World, by Abelard Sattar

Ah, traveller, welcome! I see that you (like many others) have made the excellent decision to purchase my book. In these pages you will find worlds beyond your imagination, sights you wouldn't believe truly exist. Well I can guarantee you, they do- I've seen them myself. Prepare to embark on a journey that will change the course of your life!
— An Introduction to the Adventurer's Travel Guide, by Abelard Nak

The Known World

From the bellowing peaks of the Matdhü Chain mountains to the deep waters of the Azure Sea, our world is wide filled with beautiful sights and fascinating mysteries. Danger lurks in the shadows and behind bushes, but experience will teach you how to best avoid it.

With enough patience (and a fair share of luck), you will find yourself able to explore ancient ruins while nimbly dodging whatever traps lay hidden, or braving the raging chaos of the wild without a sweat.

Danatelian Lands

Home, sweet home. Its name taste like honey, a melody that fills my heart. Hills and fields that stretch beyond the horizon, sunsets that paints the sky a thousand colours as it descends in the blue waters of the sea. Yes, I am quite lucky to call Danatelia my home.
— Abelard Nak

For all its many wonders, I'd have to say Danatelian architecture is among the most marvelous. One has not really seen true beauty until they have gazed at the golden walls of the Sundrop Room.

The food is quite remarkable too- one simply must stop by their renown bazaars to try out delicacies from all over the world.
The Danatelian people themselves are warm and welcoming, and you will feel at home in their towns and cities in no time. Beware as you travel on unguarded lands though, for bandit attacks are not uncommon.

Principality of Bajou

Set east off the coast of the Danatelian Lands, the @prin has long remained secular, leading rise to many superstitions regarding what lies on that forever misty island. The cold attitude of Baja's does not help dismiss that austere reputation. But they are renown for their wealth, and as such almost anyone is willing to put up with their dismissive attitude to get their share of the pie.

Matdhü Chains

Whilst the mountain chain can look inoffensive from afar, do not let its peaceful clouds deceive you. Behind them hide storms, the fury of Argus the Lightning Thrower himself, making it impossible to pass over its snowy peaks.

My ancestors have allowed me to cross the mountains safely more times than I've deserved. Just making it through one pass is hard enough- try making it through five times!
— Testimony of Talmond Hviteik
However, this does not make the Matdhü Chains bare of life. Great Dwarven Cities are nestled atop white summits , whilst druidic circles and other small groups roam the valleys below.

Living in the Matdhü Chains is no easy task, and certainly builds character. Just like the mountains they come from, denizens of the Chains are strong at heart and hard to break. Though what lies beyond the mountains, even they do not know.

Lands of the Wind

As I child, I was told the Lands of the Wind were the home of the great Aher the Green, and that his home was filled with danger and mystery. It is only recently that I have had the chance to travel there and see the beauty of these nothern lands myself, and I had the pleasure to travel alongside an Uluswa tribe.

Known Realms

The Body of Matazel

It is said that the world we all live in was created by our Father Matazel, who used his divine body and breath to shape us a home.

Sea of Dusk

A calm, ever expanding, peaceful sea. It is there the gods rest, and where the dead bask in their divine light forever.

One of the two Danatelian realms of the dead, a paradisiac island on the Sea of Dusk where the souls of those who have lived good lives enjoy an eternal rest.

The Great Beast that swallows all, ennemy of the Danatelian gods and devourer of condemned souls.

Arda Almyed

The promised land, where the Danatelians settled after the fall of their ancestors.

Realm of Stars

Before there was life, there were the stars. It is among them that Matazel the Lonely was born.

Howwww did you get the nice text box around the "Known Worlds" section???

Thats the default look for the sidebar content panel sections! You can modify how it looks with css too (although I don't think I have).

I love how you've carefully laid out the article so it flows well. The right column on the article is easy on the eyes and makes it easy to explore the rest of your world. Writing from someone's perspective is fascinating... As who knows what they may have left out...? And whether something may not be quite as the writer describes it? I also found The Thunder Chains to be particularly interesting. A seemingly inhospitable and dangerous land, yet with entire cities on top of it? I wonder how they've adapted...

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the in character perspective, and I'm glad to hear you found the Thunder Chains interesting! I should hopefully be writing about them later this month, something to look out for ^^

This is an excellent introduction to regions in your world. I also enjoyed the music. I'm stuck between wanting to go to the Danatelian or Echo Woods first.

Choose your poison:   Phasmatum: An Afro-Solar-Fantasy world created for my epic novels.
Adazuri: A shonen-inspired magitech fantasy world home-brewed for 5e.

Oooh, I'm glad you enjoyed the music! And thank you for the kind words :), I'd personally suggest the Danatelian lands, considering the Echo Woods are a lot more dangerous ^^

A travel guide for your world is a wonderful idea! It reminds me of the "Guide to the Green Isles" that came with the game King's Quest VI. Things like that really help to pull the audience in, blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality.
