The Pin of Oghma
General Purpose
The Pin of Oghma is a special mark bestowed upon those who work with the Pantheon of Sagas, Organization. Although not rare, only those selected by the church itself may receive this badge. It proves the wearer loyalty to the church and generally permits them respect wherever they may go. It also can provide some diplomatic immunity to the wearer (considering they do not do anything too drastic).Look of the Pin
The Pin of Oghma is made of a fine metal comparable to a white-colored gold. They are finely polished and to besmirch one would be a great disrespect to the church. It features the symbol of Oghma, an open book with three eyes watching over it. It is usually worn on the inside of one's garment as to be a constant reminder of the wearer's responsibilities to the church and commitment to fulfill those responsibilities. It is only to be shown when necessary for passage or other reasons.Evolution of the Pin
In the early days of the church, the pin was simply a piece of copper with the symbol of Oghma stamped on. It was given infrequetly so the church did not care for its look. It's only purpose was really for priests sent out to preach and govern the islands. When the church received more power in the islands, they began to grow their forces throughout the islands and thus more pins were issued. The pins were then changed to be more presentable. Thus, gold was chosen as the new metal for these pins. More recently, the church has required the help of many different adventurers and outsiders. The power of the pin grew and all began to see one who bears the pin as one with the power of the church behind them. The Pantheon of Sagas, Organization decided to make the pin even more appealing and began to stain the gold a pure white as to show the holiness of Oghma and his followers. Now, the pins essentially grant the wearer diplomatic immunity and provides many perks.
