Krovin, the Blood Marsh
Krovin is known as the Blood Marsh. The ancient city of Kalmira used to be there, and was destroyed during the Great War. Since then, Krovin is said to be haunted by whatever evil forces turned on the Kalmirians during the fall of their city, as well as by the spirits of hundreds of soldiers and citizens who died that day.
Geography
Krovin is located on the southern side of the Gemstone Mountains in the northern part of Indalifa. It used to be forested, an extension of Dodwa Forest, but the death and decay that has taken over it since the fall of Kalmira has turned it into a bog and a wasteland. Even the trees that grow there seem to be poisoned by some evil that has infected the land.
History
The history of Krovin is the history of Kalmira. During the Great War, that city became a stronghold where the peoples of the Alliance made a stand against the encroaching demon armies. The hero Saldaro was leading a group of Kalmirian soldiers into the Gemstone Mountains, and returned to the city after the siege had already begun. Instead of the waging battle that he expected, he found the city completely abandoned, blood running throught the streets. There were no demons to be seen, and not a soul left alive in the entire city.
Now, no one enters the swamp that remains, and those who have ventured inside have not returned. The Indalifi who live nearby give the area a wide berth and leave it to continue festering in the death that seems never to have left it since that day when the city fell.
