Forest of Tears

This natural wonder is a constant source of tourism to the Ayrith Plains/Desert. Although people say it is dangerous to enter the forest, especially alone. Locals have erected signs around the forest to prevent tourists from wandering in. It still happens from time to time. Unfortunately, few who walk into the forest ever return. Those who find themselves coming across this oasis in the desert may enter to seek water. Whether they ever come out is a different story.  It is rumoured that there are portals to other worlds though no proof of these exist.   There are unusual creatures found in this rainforest that don't seem to exist elsewhere. Tribes of Grung and Kuo Toa live amongst the trees, patrolling and keeping watch. Thriving in the damp. Some think they are dangerous and will kill any who come into their territory, but lately attempts to communicate with the forest inhabitants are being made.   The Forest of Tears is an anomaly in the Ayrith Plains. Despite being located in the middle of a desert, somehow it is always raining. The surrounding geography and weather patterns do not explain the phenomenon. The curious have tried to explain for years how this has come to be. Locals say that the trees are weeping for the dead. Others think the local Kuo Toa clan summoned an Empyrean with their devotion. Despite much speculation, testing and exploration, still no answers have come to light.

Geography

Many trees of varying heights, the canopy lets very little light through. There are multiple ponds, streams and marshes in the forest amongst the underbrush.   The terrain is not entirely flat, there are some small hills and mounds. The surrounding desert and hills would not ordinarily cause this kind of permanent rainfall.

Localized Phenomena

The Forest of Tears is always damp. Whether it is a torrential downpour or small droplets, the air is always humid and the forest floor is always damp.

Fauna & Flora

Ghost trees (and possibly other ghosts) protect the forest.
