Historical Details
Background
Cookbooks for pigment foods are a dime a dozen among the Kanotak, but the Comprehensive Cookbook, as it is colloquially known, is widely recognized as the ultimate collection of such recipes. It revolutionized the way Kanotak look at pigment foods and cooking.
Public Reaction
Few books before the Comprehensive Cookbook really made an effort to use Kanotak Pigment Foods as unique ingredients. Instead, older cookbooks would simply list what pigment foods could be included in a recipe without ruining it. The Comprehensive Cookbook was the first book to really use pigment foods not as an afterthought, but as a necessary component of a meal. The book received little acclaim at first, but within a decade it was the best selling cookbook in Kanotak history.
Legacy
The Comprehensive Cookbook is old and a little outdated nowadays, but time has done little to diminish it's status. There are certainly other cookbooks with better recipes for a dish or two here and there, but no cookbook has ever come close to being as complete a guide or as generally good a source of recipes as this famous book. The book has not gone out of print since it's original publishing.
