Temple of the Five
The great temple on Raldmar stands towering above all other structures in the city. Combined the whole temple grounds, it's nearly the size of a small city. Pilgrims come from across the stars to visit the grand sculptures representing the Five there. The most mysterious of the shrines, though no less impressive than any of the others, represents the sleeping god. As this last of the five has not yet reawakened, their figure remains shrouded. The Sleeping God's sculpture is a humanoid figure draped in cloth from head to toe, obscuring their features. This representation is common on the binary planets, Ithamar and Raldmar, among temples that have a representation of the sleeping god.
Purpose / Function
The Temple of the Five, by far the most famous temple ever built, houses shrines to each of the five major deities, whose domains are: growth, entropy, magic, and storms. The last of the Five is the sleeping god, who has not yet reawakened after the Godsnight, and the sleeping god's domain remains unknown to mortals. The temple is the heart of worship, and also houses shrines to dozens of lesser deities. Though worship does not occur exclusively in the temple, it remains an important factor for those of the faith.
Great silver bowls stand before each deity's figure, and temple goers leave offerings there for the gods. Offerings are used by the temple clergy to maintain the temple as well as a variety of other temple functions.
Architecture
As is common to old Raldmar architecture, the temple is constructed from thick stone and wrought iron. The Dwarves of Raldmar contributed their masterful stone and metalworking skills. The Orcs contributed the work of a number of artisans, particularly sculptors and weavers, whose work is unparalleled in the centuries since the temple's completion. Many of the original tapestries remain to this day.
