Revenant
Basic Information
Anatomy
Revenants are little else than human in shape and form. Though the difference is that they can at times lack skin and flesh, with chains of shadow holding their bones in place. Alternatively, a revenant is as pale and corpselike as the grave they climbed out of.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Though some revenants have a face and others have bone, they all completely lack eyes which is replaced by fire instead, in different colours which nobody really knows the reason behind. They also tend to have gemstones or ornate carvings etched into their skulls and jaws. Some with even a mix like skin on the face, though with the bone and jewels showing at their jaws.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
As they are living dead, these daemons lack coloursight and see the world through a lense of white, gray and black shades. They are also capable of seeing in pitch black darkness, even magical fogs, accompanied with a heightened sense for smell and hearing, from their daemonical predatory senses running wild within their restarted brainwaves.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
It's common for a newly risen revenant that they forget themselves and whom they are, knowing only ever who had scorned them and why that person, creature or monster needs to die. Hence they are usually granted names by those unfortunate, or fortunate enough to cross paths. Commonly, these names are just single syllibels like X, Z, M. Othertimes they're given based on their acts, as their path's are often spread with the corpses and remains of terrible monsters.
Major Organizations
To date, there is no known revenant organizations, as these creatures tend to work on their own and with a singular goal in mind. It does happen though, that revenants at some point in their unlife require to band up with other peoples and causes, to see their own goals reached. It's not impossible to find a revenant working side by side with others, as even though they are daemonic and reborn from wrath - their rage are always still pooled from just retribution, not selfish vengance.
Relationship Ideals
Although these beings are unable to feel any form of lust or romantic feelings to others, as they're undead, love is still an important part for the eldritch concoction to be brewn in the stolen soul. It often happens that a revenant is born from the death of loved ones and an inability to protect them, hence their souls known not where to travel, as the sin of wrath though the purity of affection and care counter each others pulls.
As a consequence, Revenants tend to be protective of the meek and innocent, while merciless towards most evil elements. (Though as still sentient creatures, some have been able to grow and see beyond wanton slaughter.) Hence, they are capable of forming meaningful relations with other people as well, even though they are rarely approached due to their damned figures and oft' grim nature.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Revenants automatically learn the language of the dead, for some reason. They're also capable of speaking the languages they knew before their demise, as they're so ingrained into their spines. Though they do have a harder time learning any new ones, in contrast to living creatures.
Common Taboos
Because they're all pale as the grave, or in some case shows their skull and bones, Revenants are usually frowned on by people. Mostly as they have a natural fear towards that which is undead, or rather as a more logical conclusion since the 'undead' don't exist, corpses possessed by demonic souls and out for vengance. The irony here is that normal people have nothing to fear from revenants, as their supernatural existances render them incapable of taking actions that leave innocents killed or severely harmed.
History
Sometimes when a chaotic but loving man is killed by something even crueler, with their entire world taken away infront of their eyes, their soul gets caught in a limbo between the hells and the lands of bones. Blackness meets chaos and something eldritch appears in it's stead. With this twisted, tained, daemonic and death possessed soul thrown into twilight, they will arrise back from the grave by the wrath of the infernal hells pumping through their veins. With minds and bodies still intact through pure rage that boils into their undead forms, the revenant takes their first fiery and necrotic steps out of the hole that had been dug, as they engage in a war for revenge, so that they may finally earn their right to rest.
