Magnolia "Magpie" Dolchenfeuer

Story

Magnolia gazed around her. The stench of death hung low in the air, as she traversed through the dark depths of the pinewood forest. All around her, the figures and altars with sigils of bones and skulls, with candles dropping wax from the hollow immages of people once been, haunted her vision.
A shiver of disgust went through her body, as she spat on the ground. A hand on her Thunderslinger brushed against the steel, as her ears perked up to the sound of rustling among the leaves.
First mistake, final mistake. Drawing her gun, the woman fired straight into the shrubbery with a thunderbolt rolling through the woodlands. Sparks now cascaded down the midnight painted nymphs as the grilled wilderkin fell one by one to the ground.
That was when in the corner of her eye, she spotted something new. Something which had a chill tide run through her veins. With claws and form like a werewolf but arms and feet woven from timber, with the exposed heart etched into it's chest through vines and thorns.
Lowering her gun, she stared at the creature with a squint in her eye. She couldn't help but feel pain for this child of the woods tragic fate, as she slammed her knuckles together and the Stormgloves sprung to action, crackling through her Ravenknight claws with lightning. "I shall purge every one of your kin for this, Mandrake swine." She swore, as she leapt fang to fang and claw to claw with the creature.
Magnolia Dolchenfeuer or better known as the Magpie for her aggressive tendencies is a woman of honour and rage who was once born the daughter of a Handmaiden ruling over a small village and sawmill operation within the Ravenwoods, just a shy kilometer away from the Carrion Corax Passage. When the Mandrakes and Deathnymph forces emerged from the passage in an attempt to go after the people of the Crows Mountains, her village and people were the first to fight but also first to fall. With the house of Dolchenfeuer cut down to half it's numbers, with only a handfull of survivors from the village, Magnolia escaped to the town of Three Rivers Crossing.   Though the mission of her bloodline called her to cover behind it's walls and army, as long as vengance burned through her veins, she refused to sit idle on some luxury brothel while her kin was being slaughtered by sickly fiends which perverted all she held dear.   With a pact sworn to Sarak she joined the Harbingers as follower of Death, who had the sole goal to eradicate the entire Deathnymph kin and punish the Mandrake lord for her crimes.   After various tango's within the Ravenswood as a lone huntress of monsters, she was eventually approached by a queer hooded priest of the order. Though she never saw their face, nor could pinpoint his voice, the man offered her a book covered with frost and shadows. Warning her from continuing on the path of vengance, should she wish to see another sunrise.   Unwise to his words, she carried out on another hunt that night. Where she found herself followed by an odd pale grey raven which soared high above. An ill omen perhaps, as she could see the full moon rise above. The howling of wolves in the distance seemed almost guided by the creature, as she was attacked by werekin beasts. One which managed to slash up her leg and side, before pulling her away kicking and screaming through a veiled glade.   Fastened by her wrists and ankles to an altar, the masked faces of humanoid and elvenkin skulls followed her everywhere. She saw the Mandrakes around, the beasts and people corrupted with their skin and organs replaced for barks and fruits, then the horrible sound of a rusted, bloodcaked blade being pulled from the leather scabbard of boiled human skin. Then, a man masked man in full black walked into the ritual with the help of his cane. She saw his icy dead eyes, with the necrotic veins stretched through his face and down the gnarled hands that held the cane. Through the way he acted, she could have sworn he was the lord in charge of this grotesque operation. That was, untill the master of rites let out a shrill screech and charged him with the knife.   The slaughter was swift and merciless. Only after a few seconds of stabbings and slashes, the entire cult lied dead with gore staining the scene in hues of burgundy and green. The man now slowly seathed the blade into the scabbard of his cane, as Magnolia stared in fear and awe.   "Foolish girl, wasting away your life on a foe you can't possibly hope to best. What difference do you do, hunting bone and twine when two more will just take the place for every creature you lay to waste. This is your last warning, find a better way to destroy your foe, without leaving your kin unguarded." Before she could respond, the man disappeared like a whisper. Leaving her there bloody and cold, before a group of Corvex arrived to take her back to one of their villages.   Once she had been mended, the Mystarium sent her back to Three Rivers Crossing, where she joined in with the Rabensturm Institute to become one of their agents in the field. Which is where her skills as a hunter of monsters finally came to good use, as the leader of a small crew of Institutional Milita that rode out to defend villagers under attack and distress.   This is when she rememberd the book of frost and shadows granted to her. Curious as to why the priest had given her the tome that fatefull day, she opened it to witness a land of frost, steel and corruption. Where once great civilizations had risen, in the frozen north now the only purity to remain was death and decay. All else was under the influence of the abyssal lords spell. Much alike the Mandrake Queen which had laid her life to waste.   Understanding her fate now, Magnolia closed the book and prepared herself for a trip to the mighty human capital of magic, known as Barrkad. If the rumors were true, of the Barrkadi Circle battling these sorts of influences, she'd find her answers with their orders.

Gear and Skills

The Thunderwings

The Thunderwings are Magnolias own specially made Stormtech dual crossbow pistols, which the Rabensturm Institute had made for her. The two pistols work a bit like the ordinary Thunderbolter pistol, yet can be switched to a mode where they rapid fire a wide spread of bolts into a field ahead for panic situations. The two crossbows also feature a third mode, where a military grade oil coating the tips can be set alight by increasing the voltage output of the weapons, thus making them incredibly effective at burning Mandrakes even when they are wet, due to how the oil's chemical compound help dry out and impregnate their woodlike skin and flesh.

The Stormclaws

The Stormclaws are a pair of upgraded Stormgloves which connect to her armours talonlike claws, which makes them extremely fast and crackle with thunder which she can unleash onto her enemies like a shaman. Utilizing her skills in magic, she can also draw directly from energy in nature to charge her gauntlets, instead of having to build up pnemuatic force or load them beforehand.

Shadowmancy

Though the Corvex could not teach her Delusiomancy, Magnolia proved a skilled Illusionist and Shadowmancer who often utilizes stealth and tricks of the mind to outplay her foes.

The Valkyre

Besides her title as the Magpie, Magnolia is sometimes named the Valkyre on the battlefield, as the commander of the Ravenknights. Once she had returned from her spiritual and magical journey to the human country of Barrkad, she utilized her newly learned storm magic and shadowmancy to create a knighthood of the most valiant soldiers she could find. Named as the Ravenknights in theme with the House of Crows, she impressed both Ophelia and Amelia Donnergroll with their skills in the field, to the point they were officially recognized as a Knightly Order, with full clearance to defend the lands and battle the forces of the Mandrakes by their own command.

Visuals

Her facial features are often described as sharp, royally lined cheekbones covering an otherwise foxlike chin with smooth features, a button nose and high arched eyebrows which loom cruely above her steel irises. Her tall ears ascend through a finely braided hair which runs down in a ponytail along a loose tide of ashenblonde hair, that trails down her shoulders.   Her form is carried up by a noble posture accompanied by a firm pair of shoulders that lead to muscular and well maintained arms. Her body itself is a bit of a canvas for scars and old wounds, which have been masterfully tended to ensure only dim misscolouring remain of the old wounds, which coat an otherwise muscular structure.

Personality

Those who meet Magnolia often describe her as being stoic yet often haughty and prude. While most Dyskhar, especially Morstein like to relax once in a while and just party their minds blurred, the Magpie often draws away from decadence, enjoying the silence of books and ancient legends. She rather be alone by herself and the candlelight to enjoy a good novela or epic, than get shitface drunk in some local brothel.   When she does get out with her comrades in arms though, the woman is known to be one hell of a songstress with a deep voice clearly fit for someone of the title Valkyre. She also often use it to peck away anyone who shows interest in her with a bit of a subtle fury, being a loner at heart.
