Gunblade

"Naturally if we take one thing which is good and then combine it with another thing which is also good. Then the results have to be great, no?"

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Modern day Gunblades generally features a handle, combining a trigger and triggerguard vowen into the larger handguard. It's central part of the blade, or the back of the blade tends to be the spot for the barrel which has sharp edges either stretching out from one or both sides of the weapon.   The tip of the blade also tends to reach a bit further than the barrel to still allow stabbing actions to be taken. Lastly, the firing mechanisms are connected to the handle, closely protected by the handguard to prevent it from being easily damaged.

History

The gunblade is a Dyskhari construct which was developed around the late 1500's era for the purpose of being worn ceremonialy by military officers. The gunblade was never supposed to be taken into combat due to the soft and easily destroyed parts of the gun itself, along with the unwealdiness of the blade. Mankind didn't exactly allow that to stop them from stealing a few decorative officer blades that they did use in combat.   This caused a facination to be sparked with the combination of shot and blade, that even if weak and useless in compare to better firearms and swords, spurred the Morkadians into creating a different build of Gunblade which mixed the two weapons to better functionality.   Eventually this new prototype of Gunblade was copied back by the Dyskhari as the new models were considered to be viable enough options. Yet were still given proper modifications to aleviate as many of it's weaknesses as possible. This mostly meant just using guns in combination with weapons more viable for efficency though.

Significance

The Gunblade still has a cultural significance within both the Dyskhari Imperium and Morkadia. The weapons symbolice nobility and formal attitude which is why it's still carried to this day by their military officers.
