Historical Details
History
The 100 Chapters of Ashura were inspired by old folk tales told of the Ashuran era, which can be traced back to as far as the Limeracia era over 900 years ago. The ages that follow saw the rise of dramatic plays and novels that expanded upon these tales.
Jolan took on elements from the various poems and operas depicting this era and made use of historical records and his own beliefs to publish the first edition of the novels on 1489. The novels quickly became one of the most beloved pieces of literature in Limeran history.
The novels saw significant changes and revisions over time, the most popular of which was the Kerrigan's Edit version first published in 1688. This became the standardized version of the novel seen in the modern age.
Public Reaction
Jolan's gifted storytelling and rich prose saw almost unanimous praise by many scholars, who predicted that the novel would go on to become a highly influential work of literature.
Legacy
One of the most beloved books in the history of Limerant, the 100 Chapters of Ashura have gone on to influence Limeran culture and literature for years to come. References to the novel can be found in any form of media within Limerant ranging from television shows to video-games.
The novels have also been translated by Uranese scholars as early as the 1700s and saw adaptations by Urach in numerous forms, many of which have become popular in Limerant as well.
