Howling Forest Temple

Long ago before the Sundering of Euhukoa this was a grand temple dedicated to worshipping Bahamut, its spires reaching high up into the sky. Now only parts of it remain and have sunk underground where it sat untouched and forgotten for thousands of years. It was entirely a happenstance that it was discovered again the year 1964 in the Age of Awakening.

Purpose / Function

It was originally built as a temple to Bahamut and served as such for centuries before it became a ruin. It was recently rediscovered by worshippers of Zehir and has been made into a temple in his honour.

Alterations

The original design of the temple was spacious and mostly open plan with many pillars supporting the high ceiling of the main hall of worship. When it was destroyed in the Sundering, the main hall collapsed in on itself but somehow rooms that were tucked away on upper levels of the building survived almost intact. This included more private places of worship for the clergy, offices and even a couple of bedrooms, all of it filled with iconography to Bahamut on the walls and floors as well as in art pieces.   When the ruins were discovered by cultists of Zehir looking for cave systems in which to make their base they found joy in defacing everything dedicated to the worship of Bahamut. They scratched out and painted over wings and legs on images of Bahamut, instead making them into depictions of Zehir. Any statues of Bahamut had their wings and heads chopped off and blasphemous words were carved into them.   However, they didn't just destroy the thousands of years old art; they also had to rebuild parts of the rooms as well as create corridors leading between them to make a cohesive underground temple. They also built a house on top of the entrance they'd made to the underground and made sure that it was hidden. The design of the house above ground is similar to other Euhukoan Houses but keeps the colouration of the raw materials instead of being painted white and blue. This way it blends into the surroundings of the forest, as well as match the simple abodes of the village located nearby.
