Gael Lithron

Gael was born on Endbringer 29th, year 1935 in the Age of Awakening. He grew up in Griffon Harbour together with his parents, Einian and Ourania Lithron. They worked as fishermen and lived a modest lifestyle though they were never poor. Once Gael became a teenager he was sent to live with an older relative in Seavind as he had expressed interest in joining the clergy and there were no temples in Griffon Harbour.

Personal history

Growing up in simple but comfortable conditions with two high elf parents who had long left behind any sense of grandeur that their race may have been associated with in the past, Gael was a shy boy who never asked for much. He was content with his life, his parents and going to school where he had a couple of friends but never drew much attention to himself even though he was very bright and always did the best on tests in any subject. After his teachers brought it up in front of the class and praised him he later asked them politely in private not to do that again. The teachers assumed that he was afraid of being picked on and agreed, but Gael simply didn't want attention of any kind. He felt more comfortable blending in and listening to people talk without paying him any mind.   When he was fifteen years old Gael expressed to his parents that he wished to become a priest of Erathis and they supported him fully. They arranged that he could live with a relative of Ourania who had a home in Seavind where there were small temples to the prime deities. This relative was a man named Omiros Aragella, a high elf man somewhere in the middle of his second century. For an elf it was not terribly old and he was cheerful and very kind, a well respected merchant and well liked in general. He was just about the opposite of Gael's personality but somehow they got along splendidly and Omiros never pressured Gael to be someone he was not.   It took Gael about three years to notice that Omiros was hiding something. Once he realised this there was no chance with his curious nature that he'd let it go without figuring out what Omiros was hiding. As it turned out Omiros, aside from being a merchant, was actually a successful information broker. He had developed a network of informants all across Euhukoa Empire and he collected and guarded all kinds of knowledge, selling them to the highest bidder. When Omeros found out that Gael knew he wasn't angry or nervous, he simply asked if Gael wanted to learn how it all worked and Gael told him that he did.    Omiros taught Gael everything there was to the information broker business and kept telling him how important it was to keep the identities of the seller and the buyers secret, even between the people in the transaction. Gael had some compunctions about not knowing who the buyer was and what they would do with the information, thinking that it could be used for all sorts of crimes. Omiros waved away his concerns, saying that selling information wasn't illegal and if anything happened while gathering knowledge or after it was sold then it wasn't on his hands. This made Gael uncomfortable but he still respected Omiros and did admit that he wasn't doing anything strictly against the law and it was a part of civilisation. As an acolyte of Erathis, the goddess of law and civilisation, he knew enough to know that what Omiros was saying was true although morally grey. However, law did not involve itself with morals a lot of the time.    Gael continued to learn his relative's secret trade until the year 1967 when Omiros suddenly disappeared. At first Gael thought he may simply be in hiding from someone who had discovered his secrets, but more and more time passed and Gael didn't receive any messages from him. An investigation had been launched but the guards found no trace of Omiros. None of the informants seemed to know that anything was amiss either as they kept sending the secured information to the agreed location and Gael decided that he would take over until Omiros returned - if he ever did. Gael wasn't stupid, it was likely that Omiros was dead but in order to find out for sure it would be helpful to have an entire network of informants working for him everywhere on the continent.    Meanwhile, Gael also worked as a priest of Erathis and kept up with all of his duties, remaining as unassuming as he'd always been.
