Character Creation

Adventure will begin in Larenda. All player characters will be native to Larenda. Non-humans will be children of craftsmen or merchants who are either focused on the job or too timid to travel or allow their children to travel. The parents of humans may also be farmers from the surrounding countryside. This limits the knowledge and experience of the players to town, and the rest is learned through books, rumor, and adventure.   ABILITIES

4d6 drop the lowest, arrange to taste.

  HIT POINTS

First level starts with maximum hit points as determined by class and constitution modifiers.

Subsequent levels may choose the average amount of HP for the die, or roll. The decision made at second level is permanent for that character. That is, if you choose to roll at 2nd level, you must roll for all new levels achieved.

  CHARACTER SPECIES

Any species with the tag #Player-Character. Make note of any warnings or cautions.

  STARTING AGE, HEIGHT, AND WEIGHT

Players may elect to choose, or use the tables from the DMG or OSRIC.

  SECONDARY SKILL

Players may elect to have no additional skill or roll on the table in the DMG.

  STARTING GOLD

3d6 x 10

  STARTING LANGUAGES

Limited by intelligence.

Non-Humans get their species language, Goblinoid, and Trade Tongue, plus more slots if intelligence allows.

Humans start with Trade Tongue plus more slots if intelligence allows.

Language slots may be left empty to enable learning newly discovered languages.

  STARTING EQUIPMENT

Book price in the Player's Handbook or OSRIC.

  STARTING SPELLS

Clerics and Druids have available any spells listed in the Players Handbook, as allowed by level.

Magic-Users and Illusionists are limited by the spells in their spell books and starting spells are determined randomly. Additional spells must be discovered in the course of adventure, researched, or obtained from another caster who trusts you with that spell.

  TRAINING/LEVELING UP

There is no training to advance levels.

Advancing levels occurs by living to return to town, civilization, or a safe and secure space, and resting and healing up for a minimum of one week.

  CLASSES

PHB (except PHB bard).

But I Want It: Players wishing to play a class who do not roll the stats for it, can set the minimum stats for those ability scores that are pertinent, but all other stats will be rolled on a d4+8 making their range 9-12.

All species may be clerics, and all species may have holy warriors (paladins). There is more than one group of druids, elves and humans have different druidic orders. Half-Elves choose to follow the elven or human druidic way.

  LEVEL LIMITS

There are no level limits. If your character can live long enough to acquire the experience to gain repeated levels, they can achieve greatness.

  ALIGNMENT

This is a general guideline and is not a strong point, except for holy warriors, who are expected to live up to the tenants of their faith. Each player of a holy warrior will outline their duties and beliefs and adhere to them.

Detect Evil is only effective against things that are evil in the core of their being.
