Arathoth

A vibrant land of many peoples, arcane, mystic and ancient. While prior civilisations and empires have risen and fallen over the eons, by the light of the returned Gods, the free peoples of Arathoth have thrived in a golden age of peace and prosperity.   Since The Return, some 3000 years ago, the continent has been ruled by the seven kingdoms of the free peoples with the majority of the land enhabitied by simple townsfolk, living their everyday lives and seeking the best for the next generation. While the free peoples, in the west and north thrive, a different story faces the peoples of the east. Living in the harshness of deserts and wastes, the struggle to survive has seen many turn to tribal conflicts and petty disputes.   While these are not the concern of the larger free kingdoms, with the advent of long distance trading routes, and developments in both naval and land based industry, the balance is starting to equalise. With the advancement of science, logic and reason, the people stand to overturn the old ways of life. While in the name of progress great things may be done, they don't necessarily have to all be good.
