The raw silk is harvested from large Sun Worms in farms or forests.

History & Usage

History

Because Sun Worms only exist in D'yalmaar, Solarsilk (locally called Griyan) was only used by Eurnaid people, until trade started opening up with other countries. The Ufiri embraced this silk because of its refined property of reflecting heat and sun off of a person. They were the first ones to start adding dyes to the silk for more colorful clothing,

Discovery

Sun Worms were discovered at the same time as the silk and it's uses. A handful of Eurnaid silk spinners discovered the large worms and thought they would be a good source for silk, but after producing silk fabric they found that it felt strange and cool to the touch, and just how useful it was on a hot day. They would return to the areas they found the Sun Worms in and soon got together with some farmers that would raise them to sell back for fabric material.

Everyday use

Clothing. Not as much in basic clothing but additive clothing such as shawls, headscarves, cloaks, etc.

Refinement

Sun Worms produce the silk in farms or the lightly forested areas of D'yalmaar, and the farmers collect the raw silk and send it to spinners and weavers to turn the silk into fabric that can be used in clothing.

Trade & Market

Any tailors of clothing merchants in hot, sunny countries tend to have this in stock. Most common in D'yalmaar and Eversun, but there are a few places in Daltalan that sell it as well as in Mythiar. In the former two, almost everyone has at least one clothing item made from Solarsilk.
