Monk's Lace
"After felling a great beast here in Camnhir, I plucked a flower from its fur; tiny but pungent and strong. I followed the beast's tracks backward to find a patch of these. Their soothing scent urges me to collect some and study. I'll bring some back to the college for further research."
An excerpt from the journal of Kanal Arlid, First Head Botanist at the College of Camnhir and discoverer of Monk's Lace

Basic Information
Anatomy
A fairly small herb with thin, pale green leaves and very small white flowers. Despite its fragile look, the roots are very strong and it is not easily crushed.
Genetics and Reproduction
Monk's Lace has a complex pollination, as the wind cannot often lift the pollen and seeds of this herb, which are heavier than expected. Only the Caldelk's bur-like pelt most successfully transfers the pollen between flowers. Bees can complete this process too, but are not a huge contributor, as often bees will find the density of the pollen and seeds too much to be worth it.
Growth Rate & Stages
The flowers are tiny white buds for the majority of their mature life. Only at the very end of their maturity do the buds bloom in distinctive petals. This time period is very short, and is quickly followed by the petals dropping and the cycle renewing.
Ecology and Habitats
Grows in temperate climates that lean more on the wetter side.
Additional Information
Domestication
Most often grows in the wild, as domesticating the herb itself is difficult due to the complex pollination. To keep these herbs alive, someone would have to spend a lot of time completing the pollination themselves, or have at least one domesticated Caldelk along with it.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Almost always is this herb used for incense purposes. Due to the rarity of the herb, it isn't burned for the pleasantries of the scent or in casual rituals. If used in rituals at all, it is used sparingly and with rituals involving important decisions or magics.
Most often, Monk's Lace is medicinal, as being enveloped in the incense's heavy smoke is known to calm anxiety and panic attacks. The flowers may be used for aesthetic purposes and decoration, but only ever in its home region.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Only grows in the Camnhir region's peninsula.
Average Height
1 - 1.5 feet
