Aeradenn

Demographics

Extremely diverse for the area. Not only are there inhabitants from all over Aralyon, there is a heavy group of Aeveron immigrants' descendents.

Government

Run by a mayor and their cabinet of infrastructure. Because the original person in charge of the city during its first settlement was a great inventor, most often the mayors of Aeradenn are also accomplished inventors with a knack for the political. Candidates are rarely elected if they don't have some sort of experience in innovation.

Industry & Trade

Being fairly near the coast, Aeradenn has a flourishing fishing industry, and trades seafood and stone mined from the surrounding mountains with the rest of Aralyon. However, its most prosperous industry is its source of Aeveron technology, which it only trades with the respective continent itself across the sea. Things like mechanical toys or prosthetics, aether powered weapons, and, usually, aether powered forms of travel. However, so far from the continent with its stronger than normal aether presence, those forms of travel have been converted to steam powered vehicles (trains and ships).

Infrastructure

The delivery system for post and packages is based around balloons riding lines like gondolas through the mountains. Aeradenn is the only city in Athar with a skyship port.

Districts

The ramshackle district of poorer houses lies on the underside of the main city.

History

Settled originally by immigrants from Aeveron, and the technology they brought with them was much closer to Aeveron tech than anything on the continent of Aralyon. This tech of mechanical items and travel balloons was continued as an industry as the population boomed. Though not exactly secretive with this technology, the government of Aeradenn refuses to trade particular types of this tech with the nations on Aralyon, and only ever ships overseas to Aeveron. However, Aeradenn is much more generous with the invention of the train, and plans to connect a handful of cities.   The settling in the Inirmol Mountains was prompted by discovery of an artifact similar to Aeveron tech, but made of local materials.

Geography

Nestled on the seaward side of the Inirmol Mountains and near the coast of the Gulf of Dea. The city cuts into one of the mountains a little bit, rather than simply building along the base. The city takes advantage of several cliffs and rock formations around its mountain to expand the city.
