Ottokath's Journal #21

General Summary

The undine of the waters around here are remarkably quiet and calm. A raft would go quite far before falling to the weather. More importantly, I can call upon the aid of aquatic creatures from the feywild. All we need is a raft. And so that is what we built. Turns out that trees telling you were to damage them to make them fall perfectly, is quite useful. Kodama of this forest are tired of being crushed up to one another. Some volunteered for adventure and I complied. Together they formed the best raft I could hope to make, with two anchors for our fey of burden. Our journey would be as swift as a human made ship and it was nature that provided it.   I'll never know why he does things, but Tanz requested to leave the island with us. With what I owe him and the responsibilities I carry, I suppose he now is part of the herd. What shepherd would I be to abandons him... Besides, the spirits seem to like him. He is of nature, like me. Yet something seems odd. The talisman he carries had the scent of Phthisis about it. I assume that is how he animates those that follow him. The skeletal undead.   The morning brought a fast journey. To our aid came two giant squids, ready to pull our fine raft. We sped along the surface, faster than anything in sight. We came across a ship within the hour and hailed them. They quickly helped us onboard. It hardly took me long to realize what they were. Pirates.   I've read and heard a lot about pirates. They are everything from savage barbarians of the sea, to free men without allegiance. I truly prayed it to be the latter, but with them being human, this was a doubt I had. They were kind enough, however. Among them was notably a dwarf. Hogar was his name. He seemed to have a great affinity for the gaia. This seemed odd for a pirate, but I have seen stranger things. I resolved to spend this leg of the journey in the crow's nest. Away from any harm my new companions might impart on others. They'd probably impart it on other humans anyway.   At least I met a friend up there. The parrot that screams: FUUUUCK! We really bonded up there.
