Ottokath's Journal #17

General Summary

The following morning we boarded a ship I fail to recall the name of. One of the more notable aspects of the crew was the inclusion of reptilian or amphibian creatures as part of the crew. Notable as well were tubeshaped metal devices on wheel, the purpose of which I failed to divine, but which had the scent of fire spirits about them. I opted to help the crew by taking up position in the crow's nest. Between the height and my capacity for sight, little would approach our boat unexpectedly.   Turns out this would not be a lovely, laid back journey. Somewhere halfway the third day, crewmen brandishing swords arrived up deck. This drew my ire and I requested fey spirits to my aid. Two direwolves growled at the transgressors and they fell back below deck. Apparantly the captain had been underpaying his crew and my companions had gotten close enough with some of them to even be invited to join this coup. I realised this would be little good for us, as only the captain was bound by contract to bring us to Luxor safely. Such wasn't the case for the crew. I didn't trust humans to do any such thing out of mere honour. What I didn't expect was for our new foe to be quite so mentally incompetent. They took one of those metal devices, I now know them to be cannons, and pointed it up through the deck, blasting the main mast in half. I avoided the fall by turning into a spider, but I can't say avoiding the fall made me any less upset. The situation only deescalated, in the worst way, when Feyret showed up and ate the captain and one of his officers. This made me quite angry, but there was little I could do against the tiny fiend. With the captain dead, plans changed dramatically. We would allow the men to take over the ship, but promise to deliver us to Luxor regardless. They then excitedly announced their intentions of piracy. More disappointments from the human race.   It wasn't long before the storm appeared on the horizon. I honestly can't say it worried me. I'd given up on worrying when the mast went down. I remember being rather giddy about the ordeal, actually. Mutt took the helm and Art joined hamood in attempting to locate barrels that would float. I rode the storm, laughing all the way. I couldn't help but notice Buddy getting awfully close with Feyret. But now was not the time. We went unto the storm, the maw of which opponent to reveal its teeth. Then water rushed to meet us.
