Ottokath's Journal #15

General Summary

We woke up not long after the ritual concluded. I hoped the curse of Mavis was lifted too, but was at least glad to see that Art raising her hand no longer filled our minds with psychic agony. We were free to pursue our own course. Yet my mind failed to be with my companions still. We spend that evening drinking and I let myself go, probably too far. I could feel Feyret claw at the edge of my mind, demanding tribute, sacrifice. No suitable subject was available, for this was a town of humans I at least considered neutral to me. Yet the fiendish ferret slipped its planar binds anyway and intentended to claim the life of the barkeep. I may have been numbed by alcohol and meriment, but my mind is sharp. I flung it back to the feywild with an exertion of will. I do believe I may have laughed at the thought of the process. Feyret would not consume any while I remained vigilant.   My mood had yet to improve by the next morning. The barkeep was nowhere to be found, so I opted to prepare breakfast for my companions in his stead, leaving the appropriate quantity of gold, I tink, in their stead. I left through the front gate that shortly after. The guards did not fail to voice their disgust at my differences. I don't mind it. They're just human, after all.   I walked for an hour, south and found a quiet place surrounded by winds, sand and nature and meditated.
