Genetic or as a result of exposiour.

Causes

Bite from a mutated individual has a chance of carrying over the mutations.
Longterm exposiour of individuals to certain chemicals will cause mutations.
A child born of mutated individual will always also appear mutated.

Symptoms

Warped flesh.
Regeneration.
Decreased dexterity.
Increased strength.

Treatment

None known

Prognosis

The skin will seem bulging and warped. Unusual growth cover the body. Extra limbs may for on an individual's body. The individual will feel constant pain.

Sequela

Being bitten by an individual may start a 7 day incubation period. At the end of this period an individual will be wracked with pain and quickly lose their minds. A short period hereafter and indivuals flesh will "burst free" now showing the more recknisable warped form. There is no known case of an individual recovering after this stage.
A milder version of the mutation exists, which progresses slower. This seems to relate to a genetic trait carried by few individuals. These individuals never experience the final stage of the mutation, instead showing slow regeneration instead.

Poor individuals in forsaken neighbourhoods.

Of particular note are members of The Broken Hand Cult

Prevention

Don't get bitten by mutated individuals
Remain clear of hazardous materials
Any effect that removes diseases will cure the effects, outside of the final stage.
