Wolpertinger Creation
Julian Elwin is a young Atlantean lab assistant. One day, he decided to create a "sport." (a mishmash creature of various types----a chimera). He chose a rabbit (body, head), deer (antlers), and owl (wings).
He mostly started this project to see if he could, but gradually it seemed as if it took on a life of its own. As he looks back, he thinks that something guided him on this project.
Summary
Jules created and released many of his creatures in mated pairs. He discovered later, that they bred easily with the common rabbit as well. The wolpertinger’s genes will overpower its lesser mate, so all it's young follow its genes.
There have been many sightings since their release. One reason that there have been so few sightings is that only children and those that are drunk can see them. Of the people that have seen this creature, many thought that they were hallucinating. Few have been caught because of their agility, as well as skills in stealth, and escape.
Historical Basis
This is a historical event, but only the creator and some of his coworkers knew of his experiment. More people found out when he started bringing back oriculum “eggs.”, and was evasive on were he found them.
Spread
It is mostly centered on Atlantia, but a few might have traveled elsewhere.
Cultural Reception
Other people besides Atlanteans, are upset about the corruption that this creature represents. Many don’t see its beauty. Even the Atlanteans that know of its inception, think it was a folly and waste of time.

Many poems have been written about wolpertingers, their possible reason for being and who created them.
