Seafolk Society

Seafolk is a loose conglomeration of different aquatic species. They are not all of a specific type, some are humanoids, mollusks, cetaceans, elementals, etc. Any and all forms are represented. Most are Neutral, but they can be of any alignment. They are ruled by a council, which is overseen by the Obaa. Each race has a representative on this ruling body.
Some races don't abide by all the rulings but have the right to self-governance in their territory. The predatory races have the right to hunt in their ancestral lands which are posted and travel inside at your own risk. Of course, not everyone follows this and often poaches outside their own territories. Trade routes are strictly guarded and are off-limits to piracy, again for those who care.
Most of the Seafolk wish to cooperate with others for the benefit of society and themselves. There are always those who want control of others for their own gratification for power. Many want things done for them without their own contributions. As with any society, there are loafers and never-do-wells.
Religion is one thing many have in common. Gods have similar names and are often the same being with a different face and/or name. Trade is another commonality, that draws people together.

They have a very social lifestyle, both close and extended families often live and work together in all facets of their lifestyle and community. Most of their lifestyles are a combination of "laid-back" and competitive demands of everyday life. Many societies follow strict customs and traditions from far in the past that espouse honorable and noble lifestyles.
