The job of a geneticist has been outlawed by most nations, only a few allowing them to practice in rare cases. A few Atlanteans still have the skill but are only allowed to help patients in need of repairing the damage done from contaminated areas or from magic gone wrong, and rarely genetic complications or hereditary diseases.

They must have completed advanced medical training, advanced genetics, bio-manipulation, cross-breeding, physiology, telomere, gene-splicing, evolutionary science; these are just some of the skills that will be needed for this job.
Payment & Reimbursement
Most geneticists start out as medical assistants or lab technicians after completing their basic medical training. It takes years of advanced study just to become a low-level geneticist.

With the Atlanteans, they were paid as a high-level doctor/technical expert. These doctors were highly regarded for their skills and achievements for the Atlantean Empire.
The current payment depends on where they are practicing. They are looked down on for just practicing this forbidden skill.

Purpose
This is a type of scientist that specializes in genetic manipulation. They commonly create chimeras (multiple creature traits merged together), crossbreed, and uplift animals to be used for specific uses. These scientists were used to create the slave force from animals that were living nearby when they landed.
They were common on Atlantia at the height of their power before the Chaos Wars. Their many experiments were considered torture by their victims, as the scientists didn't care about their subjects, only the results.
Social Status
In the past, they were in the upper technical class. Currently, they are mostly ostricized. A few, that turned on others of their kind were seen as saviors when the war ended. Urtho the Wise is one of these.

The skill and temperament needed for this profession take a high toll on the person, because of this few seek the long road that it takes to reach this goal.
History
For centuries the Atlanteans have sought to create the perfect creature/race. They are continually searching for new subjects to increase their knowledge. They constantly create subject races to fill jobs in their empire, so they don’t have to bother with menial tasks and so can put their minds to things more deserving of their status.
